Eagles | Philly throws in the towel in Week 17    Sun Jan 3, 11:29 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts completed 7-of-20 passes for 72 yards, no touchdowns and one interception while running eight times for 34 yards and a pair of scores in Week 17 against the Washington Football Team. He was pulled in the second half, as head coach Doug Pederson chose to use QB Nate Sudfeld to finish out the game. Sudfeld lost a fumble, and was just 5-of-12 for 32 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. RB Boston Scott led the team with 65 yards on 15 runs, and he had two grabs for 14 yards. WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside had two grabs for a team-best 40 yards, TE Zach Ertz had three catches for 16 yards and WR Travis Fulgham ended up with just one catch for 15 yards.

Philadelphia Eagles S Rudy Ford (hamstring) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 13 versus the Green Bay Packers. DT Fletcher Cox (neck) was upgraded to a limited practice Friday and taken off the injury report. LB T.J. Edwards (hamstring) and TE Zach Ertz (ankle) were upgraded to a full practice Friday and also no longer appear on the injury report.

Footballguys view: Ertz is a what the heck tight end play this week, but he wasn't consistently productive before suffering his ankle injury, so he's far from a must play.

Eagles | Zach Ertz limited again    Thu Dec 3, 05:07 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 3.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (ankle) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Footballguys view: Ertz is back in action for the Eagles but Fantasy GMs need to remember that he wasn't doing much before going down with this ankle injury. Dallas Goedert is still the top tight end for the Eagles. With Ertz back on the field as the no.2 tight end, Richard Rodgers moves to the no.3 spot.

Eagles | Zach Ertz remains out    Mon Nov 30, 12:35 PM

Eagles | Zach Ertz unlikely    Sat Nov 28, 10:53 AM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (ankle) is unlikely to play in Week 12, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Footballguys view: Richard Rodgers will be the second tight end instead of Ertz. Ertz wasn't doing much for fantasy before he went out, so fantasy teams probably aren't missing much. Ertz will likely return next week at Green Bay.

Eagles | Zach Ertz nearing return    Wed Nov 25, 10:36 AM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (ankle) is trending in the right direction to return in Week 12, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Footballguys view: Ertz may be coming back in the near future but he wasn't doing much before this injury. Dallas Goedert is the primary tight end for the Eagles and worth TE1 consideration from Fantasy GMs every week.

Eagles | Zach Ertz won't be back this week    Fri Nov 20, 11:31 AM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (ankle) had a good week, but he won't be back for Week 11, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Footballguys view: Ertz could return to face the Seahawks next week, but he wasn't consistently fantasy relevant before he got hurt, so unless you are desperate at tight end, don't rush to pick him up.

Eagles | Zach Ertz getting closer to return?    Mon Nov 16, 05:12 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (ankle) was designated for return from the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Nov. 16.

Footballguys view: Ertz now has a 21-day practice window to get back in action. We'll see how quickly he can get back out there for the team, but Fantasy GMs shouldn't get too excited here. Ertz doesn't look like he used to and was not doing much before this ankle injury took him down. The Eagles will use Dallas Goedert and Ertz in tandem if/when Ertz is cleared to return.

Footballguys view: Fantasy GMs can move on from the veteran tight end. The Eagles may be getting Dallas Goedert back in Week 7 for their Thursday night matchup against the Giants. If Goedert isn't ready yet, the team will turn to Richard Rodgers as their primary tight end.

Footballguys view: Ertz did better than last week but he hasn't lived up to his draft cost yet this year. He'll be in lineups against the Bengals next week but if he doesn't come through he may be on our benches until he puts up a good game.

Eagles | Contract frustrating Zach Ertz    Thu Sep 10, 12:20 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz spoke to team beat reporters Thursday, Sept. 10 about his contract negotiations which recently broke off. 'It's been frustrating at times. It's been difficult,' said Ertz, who added he wants to remain in with the Eagles. 'I don't know for sure if that feeling is mutual.'

Footballguys view: With Travis Kelce and George Kittle getting new contracts this offseason, many thought Ertz would be the next in line. He's got two years remaining on his current deal and is on the books for $12.4 million in 2020. We'll see if the Eagles are comfortable letting him play out his current deal and then move forward with Dallas Goedert as their lead tight end.

Eagles | Talks between PHI, Zach Ertz stop    Thu Sep 3, 04:39 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz's contract extension talks with the Eagles have stopped because the team offered Ertz less guaranteed money in their latest proposal than they did in a proposal in November, according to sources.

Footballguys view: With George Kittle and Travis Kelce paid, Ertz is next in line for a big money deal. Unlike the other two teams, the Eagles do have a talented tight end (Dallas Goedert) waiting to take over. Perhaps the Eagles are thinking they can let Ertz move on after the 2021 season (where he's signed through) and then let Goedert take over.

Eagles | Zach Ertz talks resume    Tue Aug 25, 12:10 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz resumed talks with the Eagles on a contract extension Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Footballguys view: With the deals of Travis Kelce and George Kittle, Ertz is in line for a big-money deal. Ertz is one of the most productive tight ends in NFL history and his next contract will reflect that. Fantasy GMs holding onto Dallas Goedert in dynasty formats will likely have to see what he does on his second team (contract expires in 2021) if/when Ertz gets this extension.

Eagles | Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert on field Sunday    Sun Aug 23, 06:20 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (undisclosed) and TE Dallas Goedert (thumb) participated in practice Sunday, Aug. 23.

Footballguys view: The Eagles dynamic duo at tight end is a little banged up right now. They'll work to get as close to 100 percent as possible before the start of the regular season. Ertz is a TE1 for Fantasy GMs (as always) while Goedert has some 'what the heck' flex appeal in deeper leagues and is a helluva TE handcuff if your league is that deep.

Eagles | Zach Ertz a favorite target    Fri Jul 17, 09:54 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz leads all tight ends with 291 targets over the past two seasons.

Footballguys view: Ertz might not be targeted quite as often this year if Dallas Goedert takes another step forward and the wide receivers stay healthy and do more this year, but he is still clearly in the top four fantasy tight ends and he might hold off Mark Andrews for the #3 spot.

Eagles | Zach Ertz on a record pace    Sun May 24, 10:12 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz's 525 receptions are the most by a tight end in NFL history through their first seven seasons.

Footballguys view: Ertz is an incredible target and his consistency has obviously been off the charts. The Eagles added much-needed talent at the WR position but Ertz is still going to have a big role in what they do through the air.

Eagles | Zach Ertz's option exercised    Fri Mar 27, 12:09 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz on Thursday, March 26, had his 2021 contract option exercised by the team.

Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. Ertz is a big part of what the Eagles do on offense and will remain as such in 2020. He will earn $8.25 million in 2021, and talks on an additional extension are expected to pick up in the coming months.

Link to story

Eagles | Zach Ertz an extension candidate    Sun Jan 19, 03:14 PM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz will be a candidate for a contract extension this offseason.

Footballguys view: Ertz is under contract with the Eagles through the 2021 season. He has a cap hit of $12.4 million in 2020 and there's $13.5 million remaining in dead money. The Eagles might want to adjust that number and re-work the veteran tight ends deal. Ertz appeared in 15 games in 2019, catching 88 passes for 916 yards and six touchdowns. That was good to rank No.5 for fantasy tight ends in standard-scoring leagues.

Saints | Jared Cook headed to Pro Bowl    Sun Jan 12, 08:06 AM

New Orleans Saints TE Jared Cook has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster as an injury replacement for Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (back, ribs).

Footballguys view: Cook had a career-high nine touchdowns in 2019. He's a favorite target of Drew Brees and should continue to be a TE1 for Fantasy GMs in 2020.

Eagles | Philly ousted in Wild Card round    Sun Jan 5, 07:49 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Josh McCown completed 18-of-24 passes for 174 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in place of the injured QB Carson Wentz (head) in the NFC Wild Card Game against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Jan. 5. RB Miles Sanders (ankle) shook off an ankle injury to rack up a game-best 69 rushing yards on 14 attempts while adding three grabs for eight yards. RB Boston Scott ran for 25 yards on six attempts with 23 yards on three catches. TE Dallas Goedert had seven catches for 73 yards, while TE Zach Ertz had two catches for 44 yards on four targets. WR Greg Ward Jr. was the top receiver with three receptions for 24 yards.

Footballguys view: Once Carson Wentz was bounced from the game with a concussion, the Eagles chances of winning dropped...although they were in it until the end. Wentz had made it through the regular season for a full 16 games for the first time in his career but was knocked from this game after about nine minutes. It's an unfortunate end for an Eagles team that had to fight through a ton of injuries on both sides of the ball just to make it to the postseason.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (ribs, kidney) was medically cleared on Saturday, Jan. 4, and will play in the team's wild-card playoff game Sunday, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Ertz was questionable all week but this is the playoffs, and he's going to be out there for his team. If Ertz isn't quite himself then perhaps Dallas Goedert will get some more snaps.
