The New York Jets have released WR Braylon Edwards.
Footballguys view: Edwards suffered a leg injury last week and missed the team's week three preseason game. We don't think Edwards will draw much interest on the open market as his best days are far behind him. |

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards' (leg) roster spot is now in jeopardy after the team signed WR Mohamed Massaquoi Thursday, Aug. 22. Edwards hasn't taken part in practice in the last four days due to a leg injury. Aside from WR Santonio Holmes (foot), who remains week to week, WRs Jeremy Kerley, Stephen Hill and Clyde Gates are locks at receiver. WR Ryan Spadola is looking more safe, and WR Ben Obomanu is in jeopardy. Head coach Rex Ryan sees similarities between Massaquoi and former Jets wideout Jerricho Cotchery.

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards (leg) likely will not play in the team's third preseason game because he has missed practice this week with a leg injury.
Footballguys view: Edwards was supposed to push for playing time in training camp but he has failed to stay healthy and impress. The Jets are desperate at the WR position so if healthy Edwards could be the team's WR4 behind Santonio Holmes, Jeremy Kerley, and Stephen Hill. |

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards (undisclosed) is out of practice Thursday, Aug. 22, for the fourth straight day.
Footballguys view: Edwards has failed to stay healthy or impress during his time back with the Jets. Some thought he could push for a starting job at least if/when Santonio Holmes (foot) is missing time. That doesn't seem to be the case as Edwards can't even get on the practice field due to an undisclosed injury. |

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards said Tuesday, Aug. 13, that he feels he can still be an 'elite' receiver in the National Football League. 'I'm starting to get into camp shape, that groove, that vibe,' Edwards said. 'Now is the chance to really go after it and really show these guys I still have it and that I can play at an elite level to help this team win games.'
Footballguys view: Edwards still has confidence but he's not the same player he used to be. He's established strong chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez during their time together with the Jets. We'll see if he can do the same with QB Geno Smith. Sanchez and Smith are competing to win the Jets' starting job in 2013. |

New York Jets RB Joe McKnight (head), WR Clyde Gates (head), TE Kellen Winslow (rest) and WR Braylon Edwards (rest) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Aug. 13.
Footballguys view: McKnight has trouble with migraines but some feel he might be concussed. He's in danger of losing his spot on the roster as a reserve RB if he can't get back on the practice field. |

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards has been extremely impressed with rookie QB Geno Smith in the first few days of training camp. 'It's going to be a battle,' Edwards said of the Jets' quarterback competition. 'Mark can't make mistakes like he has in the past. Things have to be legit with Mark for him to be the starter because he has a legit guy knocking at the back door.' Smith showed a big arm during practice Friday, July 26.
Footballguys view: This is something to keep in mind if Smith and Edwards can win jobs out of training camp. The Jets have no clear cut #1 receiver or quarterback right now, so if these two have a connection, it could create some marginal fantasy value in the limp Jets offense. |

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards said he is looking to win a starting job during training camp. 'My job is to go out there and do what they need me to do. Go out there and practice and play to start. That's why I came here, I didn't come as a role or I'm going to help, I came to start,' Edwards said.

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards said he is down to 215 pounds, which is the lowest he's weighed since 2010.

Updating a previous report, the New York Jets agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free-agent WR Braylon Edwards (Seahawks) Wednesday, July 24.
Footballguys view: Edwards is well past his prime. This says more about the state of the Jets wide receiver corps than Edwards' chances of being relevant in fantasy leagues this year. |

The New York Jets are expected to re-sign free-agent WR Braylon Edwards if he is able to pass his physical.
Footballguys view: Edwards has good chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez but has struggled through various injuries over the last few years. The Jets need to add to their WR corps, especially if Santonio Holmes (foot) isn't ready for the start of the regular season. |

The New York Jets are still considering re-signing WR Braylon Edwards.

Free-agent WR Braylon Edwards said he has not heard from the team about possibly re-signing.

The New York Jets have expressed interest in free-agent WR Braylon Edwards (Jets) and WR Ramses Barden (Giants).
Footballguys view: Edwards could always stay with the Jets. He has good chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez and can be a reliable veteran target. Edwards re-joined the Jets last year after the Seahawks let him go in December. In three games (all starts) he compiled 10 catches for 125 yards. |

New York Jets general manager John Idzik said the team could re-sign free-agent WR Braylon Edwards.
Footballguys view: Most people thought the Jets would add WR talent to their roster in the 2013 NFL draft. Even with this strong class of WRs they chose to ignore the position. That oversight could lead them to reuniting with Edwards even though it looked like he wasn't part of their future earlier this year. Edwards has great chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez but has struggled to produce over the last two years. |

The New York Jets may be interested in re-signing impending free-agent WR Braylon Edwards to be their No. 4 wide receiver next season.
Footballguys view: The move would make sense. Edwards isn't the player he used to be but has good chemistry established with QB Mark Sanchez. The Jets need to do everything in their power to make sure Sanchez is comfortable. |

The New York Jets are unlikely to bring back the same cast of wide receivers from last season, clearly the weakest position on the team in 2012. WRs Braylon Edwards and Chaz Schilens are impending free-agents and it is unlikely they return.

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards (hamstring, knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 26.

New York Jets TE Jeff Cumberland had four catches for a team-high 53 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 game against the Tennessee Titans Monday, Dec. 17. WR Braylon Edwards checked in with 47 yards on three catches to lead the wideouts, the only WR to have more than one reception. WR Jeremy Kerley managed just one catch for 11 yards.

Depending on situation and field position, New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards (hamstring) could start in Week 15 if his personnel package is called.
Footballguys view: Edwards showed good chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez when he was with the Jets back in 2009/2010. It's a nice matchup tonight against the Titans 27th ranked pass defense but we're not looking at Edwards as anything more than a desperation 'what the heck' flex in week 15. |

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards (hamstring) believes he will be ready to play in the team's Week 15 game. 'I've been able to go out there and do some things and show some things,' Edwards said. 'There's a high probability chance I'll be able to play.' Edwards said his injured hamstring is feeling better.

New York Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano is hoping WR Braylon Edwards' (hamstring) familiarity with QB Mark Sanchez can help Edwards get comfortable with the offense. 'Obviously, these two guys have played together and they've been in contact with each other and they're friends, so there's a lot of history there with them,' Sparano said. 'I think that's a positive thing here and makes it a little bit easier going forward.' Edwards will likely be listed as questionable for Week 15 with a hamstring injury.

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards (hamstring) and DT Sione Pouha (back) were limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 13.
Footballguys view: The Jets have a ton of injuries at the WR position and could really use Edwards this week against the Titans. Even if he does play we don't expect much from him for fantasy owners. |

Updating an earlier report, New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards (hamstring) passed his physical but will be limited in practice due to his hamstring. He should be cleared to play in Week 15.
Footballguys view: The Jets play on Monday night against the Titans in week 15. Edwards may be cleared to play but we're not recommending him as a fantasy starter this week. Let's see what he looks like reunited with QB Mark Sanchez before we get excited about his fantasy prospects. |

The New York Jets claimed WR Braylon Edwards off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. The team needed WR help with rookie Stephen Hill (knee) banged up. Edwards showed good chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez when he was with the Jets in the 2009/2010 seasons. It's been all downhill since Edwards left for Seattle and San Francisco. Perhaps this move can help jump start his career but we're not expecting him to make much of a fantasy impact. |

The New York Jets released RB Kahlil Bell to make room for a wide receiver. They are rumored to be pursuing free-agent WR Braylon Edwards (Seahawks).
Footballguys view: Edwards could reunite with the team and QB Mark Sanchez. Back in 2009 & 2010 Edwards showed good chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez. Edwards only has 23 receptions between the 49ers and the Seahawks since leaving the Jets. |

Updating a previous report, the Seattle Seahawks waived WR Braylon Edwards from Injured Reserve Monday, Dec. 10, clearing the way for him to possibly return to the New York Jets, according to league sources. Multiple league sources said the Jets will consider bringing Edwards back, either by claiming him on waiver or signing him if he clears them.
Footballguys view: The Jets could use help at the WR position because of the knee injury to Stephen Hill. Back in 2009 & 2010 Edwards showed good chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez. Edwards only has 23 receptions between the 49ers and the Seahawks since leaving the Jets. |

The Seattle Seahawks placed OG James Carpenter (knee) on the Injured Reserve/Non-Football Injury list Tuesday, Dec. 4. In corresponding moves, the team waived WR Braylon Edwards (knee) and signed OG Rishaw Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster.
Footballguys view: We'll see John Moffitt take over in the starting lineup with Carpenter out. J.R. Sweezy will serve as a backup O-Lineman. |

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks WR Braylon Edwards (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 7, but he is expected back Thursday, Nov. 8.
Footballguys view: Getting Edwards back on the field gives the Seahawks better veteran depth at the WR position. We're not expecting much from Edwards so fantasy owners don't need to add him via the waiver wire. |
