Tennessee Titans TE Dorin Dickerson (Achilles') will undergo season-ending surgery in the near future to repair his ruptured Achilles' tendon.
Footballguys view: A seventh-round pick of the Texans in 2010, the Titans signed Dickerson last year but he was injured in training camp and spent 2014 on Injured Reserve. They re-signed him back in January, but this latest injury could end his pro career. |

Tennessee Titans TE Dorin Dickerson (undisclosed) was placed on Injured Reserve. The team signed free-agent TE Chase Coffman (Falcons) to an undisclosed deal and waived QB Tyler Wilson.
Footballguys view: By all accounts, Wilson had looked terrible in training camp so far. The Titans will roll on with Jake Locker, Charlie Whitehurst and rookie Zach Mettenberger as their three quarterbacks. Coffman has battled many injuries during his pro career, but he's got a chance to make this roster with Dickerson shut down for the year. |

Detroit Lions TE Joseph Fauria is expected to start in Week 16 against the New York Giants with TE Brandon Pettigrew (ankle) sitting out. TE Dorin Dickerson is likely to be used in two tight end sets, and OG Dylan Gandy could be used in blocking situations.
Footballguys view: Dickerson is actually a better threat as a downfield receiver than Pettigrew, so this could add more of a vertical element to the offense. |

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew (ankle) was on crutches in the locker room Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Footballguys view: Not a great sign for his playing status this week. Make other plans if Pettigrew was an option for you in Week 16. TEs Dorin Dickerson and Joseph Fauria were the only two healthy tight ends at practice as a result. Head coach Jim Schwartz said Pettigrew's injury was 'the most concerning' of anyone who missed practice. |

Footballguys view: Dickerson gives them another body at the position with Tony Scheffler banged up. He'll be the third tight end behind Brandon Pettigrew and Joseph Fauria. |

Footballguys view: Tashard Choice survived a bid by Brown and Gaskins for his roster spot, but that he was pushed by backs with no NFL experience or draft pedigree shows where he is at in his career. |

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said the team was going to use TE Dorin Dickerson at wide receiver during organized team activities, but Dickerson asked with work as a tight end because several tight ends were not taking part in the workouts. Marrone said he believes Dickerson could help out as a tight end as well as a wide receiver.
Footballguys view: Dickerson is one of the more versatile players in the league. He is built like a super sized WR and can line up inside or outside. Even with his versatility we're not expecting much from Dickerson in 2013. |
