Buccaneers | Tampa Bay not expected to add Riley Cooper    Sun May 7, 05:16 PM

Free-agent WR Riley Cooper (Eagles) is not expected to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he participated in the team's rookie minicamp as a tryout basis.

Footballguys view: Cooper did not get any interest last year as he was out of football. The Bucs brought him in on a tryout basis, but it looks like he's not going to be there much longer.

Buccaneers | Riley Cooper trying out with Tampa Bay    Fri May 5, 01:27 PM

Free-agent WR Riley Cooper (Eagles) is participating in minicamp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a tryout basis.

Footballguys view: Talk about your out of nowhere news items! Cooper was out of the league last year as the Eagles let him go in February of 2016 and he generated zero interest on the open market. The Bucs added WR talent through free agency (DeSean Jackson) and the draft (Chris Godwin), but Cooper might do enough to stick around for the offseason.

Eagles | Riley Cooper released    Mon Feb 8, 01:44 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper was released Monday, Feb. 8.

Footballguys view: Nobody should be surprised by this. Cooper played six seasons with the Eagles, and he only had 21 catches for 327 yards and two touchdowns in 2015. There's $2.4 million left in dead money on his contract, but the move saves the Eagles around $8.7 million.

Eagles | Two Eagles receivers probable    Fri Nov 13, 02:32 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor (ankle) and WR Riley Cooper (toe) practiced fully Friday, Nov. 13, and are probable for Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins.

Footballguys view: Agholor will return to the lineup against a defense that allowed two deep shots to Sammy Watkins last week.

Eagles | Two Eagles receivers practice     Thu Nov 12, 01:21 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor (ankle) and WR Riley Cooper (toe) practiced Thursday, Nov. 12.

Footballguys view: Neither guy has really put out any good receiving numbers, and we'd avoid them both. If you are in a tight spot, Agholor is a decent WR6 or WR7 but it'd be better not to risk it.

Eagles | One Eagles WR goes, one limited    Wed Nov 11, 02:32 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 11. WR Riley Cooper (toe) was limited.

Footballguys view: Agholor would be a nice addition against a Miami secondary that gave up two deep shots to Sammy Watkins last week.

Eagles | Riley Cooper should be on the field    Sat Oct 24, 10:51 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (knee) is expected to play in the Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers even though he is listed as questionable for the game.

Footballguys view: Cooper should be on the field, but fantasy owners aren't looking to him with any confidence. Sure, he may get a touchdown here and there but Cooper is not reliable enough to be anything more than a "what the heck" flex in deep leagues.

Eagles | Mixed bag for Eagles receivers    Fri Oct 23, 12:30 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (knee) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 23, and is questionable against the Carolina Panthers. WR Nelson Agholor (ankle) was limited Friday, but he's out for Week 7. WR Josh Huff (knee) practiced Friday and is probable.

Eagles | WR duo sitting again in Philly    Thu Oct 22, 12:06 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor (ankle) and WR Riley Cooper (knee) are out of practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Footballguys view: Agholor has been disappointing this year and isn't worth a spot on most rosters, forget starting lineups. Cooper is a flex play at best as we know those big games (like the one against the Giants) are inconsistent.

Eagles | Riley Cooper practices    Thu Oct 1, 02:20 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Eagles | Riley Cooper doesn't have a catch    Tue Sep 1, 11:02 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper doesn't have a catch this preseason.

Footballguys view: Cooper is a guy who is going to have some trouble finding a role considering the weapons around him and that has shown in preseason. At best he might produce WR9 numbers, but unless Nelson Agholor and Jordan Matthews implodes or Darren Sproles suddenly can't catch, Cooper is going to see very little in the way of opportunity. At the end of the day there are better uses for the end of your bench.

Eagles | Riley Cooper hurts thumb    Sat Aug 22, 11:02 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (thumb) exited a preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens Saturday, Aug. 22, with a thumb injury. X-rays were negative, but he did not return.

Footballguys view: Cooper is an obstruction to Nelson Agholor and Josh Huff having consistent value this year. It doesn't sound like he'll miss any time, but if he misses the third preseason game and youngsters impress, it could continue to momentum away from Cooper playing significant snaps this year.

Eagles | Riley Cooper still eager to play    Thu Aug 13, 04:55 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper knows he needs to compete to stay a starter. 'I'm still extremely hungry. I'm not complacent. I'm not content, by any means,' Cooper said. 'I think that's how you have to approach the game every single year. They're trying to bring someone in to take your job. I know that. I'm going to do everything I can for that not to happen.'

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners should be looking elsewhere. Cooper's yards-per-catch average dropped by over seven yards from 2013 to 2014. The Eagles keep adding WR talent, and Cooper just keeps falling down in the pecking order for targets.

Eagles | Josh Huff working with starters    Wed Aug 5, 10:13 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Josh Huff has been working with the starting unit with WR Riley Cooper opposite of him. WR Nelson Agholor could eventually take snaps away from Huff and/or Cooper eventually, in the opinion of beat writer Jeff McLane.

Footballguys view: Huff knows the Oregon offense since he played college ball there, and this gives him a leg up in the competition. We like Agholor's upside, and he could eventually replace Cooper on the outside. Huff is more dynamic than Cooper, and he could be involved in this offense more than some think.

Eagles | Riley Cooper may not start in 2015    Mon May 11, 02:22 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper may not have a starting job this season with the drafting of WR Nelson Agholor.

Footballguys view: We like Agholor as a starter from day one, and he's a player fantasy owners need to be monitoring closely. The rookie is much more naturally talented than Cooper, and his quickness/speed combination should make him a dangerous weapon for the offense. Agholor's current ADP is WR51 (11.09), and it could rise as we get closer to the start of the regular season.

Eagles | Riley Cooper active in red zone    Sat Dec 20, 08:16 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper had five catches for 53 yards, including touchdown catches of three and 16 yards, in a 27-24 loss to the Washington Redskins Saturday, Dec. 20.

Footballguys view: Cooper had been quiet all year, but he woke up for this one to deny a score to anyone who played Jordan Matthews or Jeremy Maclin in the final.

Eagles | Riley Cooper underwhelming so far    Tue Sep 23, 07:07 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper leads all wide receivers in routes run, according to Cecil Lammey of ESPN Denver, but has totaled just nine catches for 71 yards.

Footballguys view: Cooper has run 111 routes, but there is little production coming from him for fantasy owners. With the emergence of rookie Jordan Matthews in Week 3, fantasy players can feel safe moving on from Cooper. Dump him for a hot waiver wire addition this week.

Eagles | Riley Cooper's role decreasing?    Sat Sep 20, 09:41 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper has five catches for 37 yards and no scores in two games this season despite Chip Kelly's offense creating one-on-one opportunities on the outside by drawing the safeties toward the middle of the field.

Footballguys view: Cooper was getting deep targets in one-on-one coverage often last year, making him a nice boom/bust weekly play, but this year those targets seem to be going to Jeremy Maclin more often.

Eagles | Riley Cooper practices again    Thu Sep 4, 04:12 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 4.

Footballguys view: Cooper should be ready to go against the Jacksonville Jaguars and in line for a decent day. But with Jeremy Maclin and Jordan Matthews, his numbers aren't likely to approach 2013's. We see him as a WR4 this week, yes, even against the Jaguars.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) is practicing again Monday, Aug. 18.

Eagles | Riley Cooper to fully practice    Sun Aug 17, 11:32 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) is fully participating in practice Sunday, Aug. 17.

Eagles | Riley Cooper sidelined    Fri Aug 15, 07:45 PM

As expected, Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) is inactive fort he preseason game Friday, Aug. 15, against the New England Patriots.

Eagles | Riley Cooper hopes to play in third preseason game    Thu Aug 14, 12:03 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) said his plan is to practice Sunday, Aug. 17, and hopes to play in the the team's third preseason game.

Footballguys view: We haven't seen or heard anything that makes us think this injury is serious or could be an issue for Cooper in the regular season, but the inability to play in the preseason would be troubling. The spread-it-around nature of the Eagles passing game makes Cooper unattractive outside out of nonPPR and leagues with big play bonuses at his 9th/10th round ADP.

Eagles | Riley Cooper takes part in practice    Mon Aug 11, 12:19 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) participated in practice Sunday, Aug. 10.

Eagles | Riley Cooper inactive    Fri Aug 8, 08:06 PM

Eagles | Riley Cooper injury update    Tue Aug 5, 06:44 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) continues to wear a boot on his right foot, and he hasn't practiced in over a week.

Footballguys view: The Eagles will take it easy with Cooper here. He is the WR2 starting opposite Jeremy Maclin, and fantasy owners should consider him a WR4 with upside. His current ADP is WR42 (9.08) in 12-team PPR leagues--so long as he's healthy.

Eagles | Riley Cooper, others remains sidelined    Mon Aug 4, 07:30 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) remains sidelined during practice Monday, Aug. 4. Also sidelined were RB Chris Polk (hamstring) and OG Julian Vandervelde (back).

Footballguys view: Watch both Cooper and Polk here. Cooper is the WR2 starting opposite Jeremy Maclin, and fantasy owners should consider him a WR4 with upside. His current ADP is WR42 (9.08) in 12-team PPR leagues. With Bryce Brown traded away to the Bills, Polk is set to be the primary backup behind LeSean McCoy this year. Handcuff him to McCoy in deeper leagues, but most fantasy owners should just keep Polk on the waiver wire speed dial.

Eagles | Riley Cooper sitting    Sun Aug 3, 11:55 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) is out of practice again Sunday, Aug. 3, but he should be back next week.

Footballguys view: Keep an eye on Cooper to see if he can return to the field. We're excited about year two of the Chip Kelly offense in Philadelphia. Cooper has a current ADP of WR42 (9.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Riley Cooper's injury not serious    Fri Aug 1, 11:04 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper's (foot) foot injury is not considered serious, and he should be able to return to practice in a few days, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

Footballguys view: Keep an eye on this situation. The team doesn't seem too concerned, so we're not either. Cooper is coming off the board at WR42 (9.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Eagles | Riley Cooper not practicing    Thu Jul 31, 12:06 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (foot) is not participating in practice Thursday, July 31.

Footballguys view: We expect to see Cooper out there soon, but don't expect big things from him in general. Most of the staff sees Cooper as no better than a WR4 or WR5 as it stands, and one of the reasons is we have no idea if he can overcome the greater degree of attention he will receiver with DeSean Jackson gone.

Eagles | Two options for slot receiver    Sat Jun 14, 10:24 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WRs Jordan Matthews and Brad Smith are expected to be options for the slot receiver job this upcoming season. WR Riley Cooper could also see time in the slot if Matthews performs well during training camp and lines up as an outside receiver.

Footballguys view: We like Matthews in the slot or outside. He's clutch, can make the big catch in key situations, and he's known as a crisp route-runner.

Eagles | Offseason offensive work looks fast    Fri May 30, 09:33 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles' organized team activities have displayed their intent to move a lot faster and increase the amount of plays run, in the observation of Nick Fierro. They were quick in moving to the line of scrimmage even before the whistle blew. 'We're just running as many reps as we can so we can get it on tape and teach them,' head coach Chip Kelly said. '... What we're trying to do is, can we get a maximum number of reps for everybody, because we do have three and four groups, both offensively and defensively? Let's just get a lot of stuff on tape so we can teach off it.'

Footballguys view: Chip Kelly practiced fast during his time as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks. It's no surprise he would implement the same philosophy with the Eagles.

Seahawks | Golden Tate suggests mutual interest    Sat Mar 1, 02:52 AM

Seattle Seahawks WR Golden Tate, who will soon be a free agent, suggested there's mutual interest between him and the Seahawks in a new contract, but said "only time will tell" if he remains in Seattle. Tate added that he doesn't consider WR Riley Cooper's contract as a sign of what sort of deal he may get, since the two receivers' situations are "very, very different."

Footballguys view: Tate's best bet is to stay with the Seahawks. The team knows how to get the most out of his limited skill set, and Tate has established good chemistry with Russell Wilson.

Eagles | Teammate wants Jeremy Maclin to return    Thu Feb 27, 09:15 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper said he hopes impending free-agent WT Jeremy Maclin re-signs with the team this offseason. 'I'm hoping we can get Jeremy Maclin back ASAP,' Cooper said. 'I don't know what's going on with that whole deal, but I'm hoping they can come to terms because he's only going to make this team better.'

Footballguys view: Maclin is coming back from a knee injury that cut short his 2013 season. He's an interesting fit for the Chip Kelly system. His run after the catch ability would greatly help quarterback Nick Foles. We have a feeling the two sides can get something done.

Eagles | Riley Cooper update    Thu Feb 27, 09:40 AM

Updating an earlier report, Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper's five-year, $25 million deal guarantees him $10 million.
