The Detroit Lions have waived/injured DE Korey Bosworth (leg), and released CB Dre' Bly, DT Robert Callaway, LB Caleb Campbell, LB Vinny Ciurciu, WR Brian Clark, DT Landon Cohen, RB DeDe Dorsey, G Noah Franklin, C Dan Gerberry, PK Steven Hauschka, CB Jonathan Hefney, OT Jon Jansen, CB Eric King, T Cliff Louis, WR Mike Moore, CB Paul Pratt, CB T.J. Rushing, S Ko Simpson, WR Tim Toone and CB Dante Wesley.
Footballguys view: Mr. Irrelevant Tim Toone was unable to make this team as a return man, but he still has some of the best hair in the game. Adding Alphonso Smith in a trade with the Denver Broncos made veteran Dre Bly expendable. |

Anwar Richardson, of The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris indicated WR Brian Clark may make his first NFL start during Week 3 due to injuries at the receiver position.
Footballguys view: We don't think he'll have much value even if he does start. Look for Kellen Winslow to lead the team in receiving again this week. |

Scott Reynolds, of PewterReport.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris said he is looking for one of the wide receivers on the roster to step up and take the No. 3 wide receiver job. WRs Brian Clark, Maurice Stovall, Cortez Hankton and Sammie Stroughter are among the receivers fighting for the job.
Footballguys view: We love what Sammie Stroughter can do on the football field because of his quickness, body control, and route running ability. However, fantasy owners need to remember that the third WR in Tampa is actually the fourth or fifth target in the passing game behind Antonio Bryant, Kellen Winslow, Michael Clayton, and Derrick Ward. Regardless of who wins the job, there will not be a lot of fantasy production coming from the position. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Brian Clark, who is competing for the team's No. 3 receiver spot, had two receptions for 29 yards and one touchdown during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 15, against the Tennessee Titans.
Footballguys view: Clark is making a great bid to not only end up on the final roster, but also play an important role in the Bucs WR corps. He could start the regular season opener if Antonio Bryant isn't fully recovered from his knee surgery. |

Anwar Richardson, of The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers WRs Antonio Bryant and Michael Clayton will enter training camp as the team's starting receivers. There will, however, be a heated battle for the No. 3 receiver position. WR Brian Clark seems to have an early grasp on the job, but he has to hold off Maurice Stovall for the job.
Footballguys view: This is why the Bucs have been linked to Joe Horn, who has been out of football since 2007. |

Peter Schrager, of FoxSports.com, reports that WR Brian Clark might be the #3 wideout if the season started today. According to Schrager, Clark "has made quite an impression in Buccaneers camp this summer. At 6-2, 205 lbs, Clark is the rare package of size and speed. He's ready to contribute in '09."
Footballguys view: Clark is a decent talent and he could add a vertical dimension to the passing attack in three wide sets. We still think seventh-round rookie Sammie Stroughter is the better fit for the slot and he should get more snaps as the season goes on. |

Buccaneers.com reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers coach Richard Mann has indicated that WR Brian Clark is the frontrunner for the No. 3 wide receiver job heading into training camp.
Footballguys view: The fact that a journeyman is in the lead for the #3 job shows how woeful the Bucs WR corps is right now. We still think Sammie Stroughter will capture the slot receiver job sooner than later. |
