Seahawks | Seattle parts ways with Kam Chancellor    Thu May 9, 04:25 PM

Seattle Seahawks S Kam Chancellor (neck) was released with a failed physical designation Thursday, May 9.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Chancellor did not play at all in 2018 and only made it through nine games in 2017. A four-time Pro Bowl player, Chancellor was one of the most intimidating players in the league and a key member of the 'Legion of Boom.' Neck injuries are always tricky to come back from, so Chancellor's days in the NFL are likely done.

Seahawks | Kam Chancellor unlikely to be released    Thu Jul 5, 02:48 PM

Seattle Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor (neck) likely will not be released at this time because the team would take a big salary cap hit this season if they cut Chancellor. He likely will be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list at the start of training camp.

Footballguys view: Last time he had his neck checked out, doctors said they saw no healing, so we're pretty sure he isn't playing any time soon - perhaps even ever. The Seahawks have to be careful about cap hit, so this move makes sense. It's not the end of the world for Seattle, but that secondary is going to look wildly different than it did last year.

Seahawks | Kam Chancellor wants to play    Wed May 30, 09:36 AM

Updating previous reports, Seattle Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor (neck) wants to play if his body will allow him, he told 13News Now in his hometown of Norfolk, Va. 'If my body says don't play, I'm not playing,' Chancellor said. 'I don't see myself as old. I feel like I'm still in my prime, so it's not an age thing at all. It's just a matter of structural issues in the neck and if they change or not.'

Footballguys view: Per Liz Mathews (USA Today) on Twitter, Chancellor will undergo a neck scan in late June/early July. We'll see if he can receive medical clearance to continue playing in 2018. With a $6.8 million base salary already fully guaranteed, Chancellor is going to play if he can.

Seahawks | Kam Chancellor still wants to play    Tue Feb 13, 02:10 PM

Seattle Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor (neck) intends to play next season if he is medically cleared to do so.

Seahawks | Kam Chancellor unlikely to retire    Fri Feb 2, 02:39 AM

Seattle Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor (neck) is unlikely to formally retire this offseason due to a clause in his contract that guarantees him $12 million in the event that he is injured. Likewise, the Seahawks are unlikely to release Chancellor because his cap charge would go from $9.2 million to $19.5 million. So it appears very possible that Chancellor will be on the Seahawks roster in 2018 whether he can play again or not.

Footballguys view: This is the nature of the odd structure of contracts in the NFL with guarantees for the life of the deal not being the default. Either way, 2017 third round pick Delano Hill should figure bigger into the team's 2018 plans. Bradley McDougald played reasonably well in Chancellor's place in 2017 and he could be brought back at a bargain price to compete with Hill and provide depth and experience to the depth chart.

Seahawks | Kam Chancellor done for good?    Tue Jan 2, 01:02 PM

Seahawks | Kam Chancellor placed on IR    Sat Dec 16, 04:39 PM
