Former NFL LB Tedy Bruschi said New York Jets QB Tim Tebow should just disappear and not talk so much to the media. In response, Tebow said he just does what he is told by the team. 'To be honest, I just do what I'm told - and this day (is) to talk to you (reporters), so I'm gonna talk to you,' Tebow said. 'And to be honest, I just go about it however the Jets set it up - the rules that they want us to (follow), who they want us to talk to, who they don't want us to talk to. And so I don't get paid enough to make all those decisions. I just do what I'm told and try to do it as best as I can.'
Footballguys view: Tebow is one of the most popular players in the NFL and the cameras aren't going to shy away from him. Yes, most backup QBs don't get this much publicity but Bruschi isn't making it any better by talking about it. Tebow will begin the season as a backup, but could take over for Mark Sanchez at some point during the season. |

Former NFL LB and current analyst Tedy Bruschi said New York Jets QB Tim Tebow should do less communicating with the media as he is still the backup to QB Mark Sanchez. 'Stop talking to the media so much,' Bruschi said. 'You need to disappear, okay, Tim Tebow? You're not the starting quarterback, it's Mark Sanchez's team. I want my voice to come from my head coach and my quarterback - my starting quarterback. That message has to be consistent ... I don't want all this competition brewing, and every time you speak and anytime you talk about competition or anything like that, you're twisting things.'

Former NFL LB Tedy Bruschi was critical of New England Patriots WR Chad Ochocinco during a radio interview, saying Ochocinco should spend more time learning the playbook and less time on Twitter. 'Stop tweeting and get in your playbook,' Bruschi said. 'Wake up! If you're just waking up now - I don't know when this was, six minutes ago? - get out your bed and get to the stadium and watch some film if you still think its amazing. If you're in it and you know what you're doing and you execute out there you don't think it's amazing. You know why? Because it's what you're supposed to do. All of a sudden it's second nature ... Join the system, buddy.'
Footballguys view: Ochocinco has not meshed well during his time with the Patriots. There are several different (and better) options in the passing game. Fantasy owners should go ahead and cut Ochocinco from their roster. |

ESPNews reports New England Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi has retired.
Footballguys view: Bruschi's play has declined since coming back from a stoke in 2005. He's missed a lot of time in this year's training camp for unknown reasons and has decided to call it a career. Bruschi has been one of the Patriots best, and has played in more games than any other linebacker in team history. Gary Guyton will replace Bruschi in the lineup. |

Howard Ulman, of The Associated Press, reports New England Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi spent less time on the field last year than in recent seasons. He often came off the field on third downs and, entering his 14th year in the league, may do much of the same during the 2009 season. Bruschi isn't thinking about life in the NFL beyond this year; he plans to reassess his future after the upcoming season. He appears healthy at this point, but his numbers were down in 2008. He recorded just 75 tackles last season and it was the first time in his NFL career he failed to record a sack.
Footballguys view: Two talented youngsters should be poised to battle for Bruschi's spot in 2010 - Gary Guyton, who flies around the field and made an impact in his rookie year despite going undrafted, and 2009 third round pick Tyrone McKenzie, who is already on IR with a torn ACL. |

Christopher L. Gasper, of the Boston Globe, reports New England Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi could become a coach when he is done with his playing career. 'I know I can coach. I know I can coach. I know the game. I've been in it so long. It's just going to be a matter of what I do when I'm done. I don't know. It's a passion of mine. I know I love football. I know I want to be in it. Let's just see what I'll be doing,' Bruschi said.
Footballguys view: Bruschi is like a coach on the field so this report isn't surprising to us. It probably won't be long before the next coach in the Belichick coaching tree used to be a former player. |

Mike Reiss, of The Boston Globe, reports New England Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi said the 2009 season could be the final year of his career. However, Bruschi, whose contract expires after the 2009 season, is leaving his options open. 'It has to be that way, not only for me but also the team,' Bruschi said. 'I have to give them everything I have this year and only think about what's next. I'm going to prepare myself for this season, only think about this season, and when the season is over, which is a long ways away, then you think about delving into those decisions.'
Footballguys view: Bruschi missed the final 5 games of the 2008 season with a knee injury, and was mainly used on 1st and 2nd downs last year. With the departure of Mike Vrabel, and the retirement of Rodney Harrison, Bruschi will be relied on more than ever for his veteran leadership. |
