NFL | Tom Brady open to late-season return    Thu Apr 11, 03:32 PM

Retired NFL QB Tom Brady recently told Vic Blends of the DeepCut podcast that he would consider returning to the NFL if a team in contention lost its starting quarterback late in a season. While acknowledging the possibility that his return might be a violation of NFL rules - as a potential future minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders - Brady suggested he could be tempted to play if the league allows him to do so.'I'm not opposed to it. I don't know if (the NFL is) going to let me, if I become an owner of an NFL team, I don't know. I'm always going to be in good shape, always going to be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like (Michael Jordan) coming back (to the NBA after becoming a part owner of a team), I don't know if they'd let me, but I wouldn't be opposed to it,' Brady said.

Footballguys view: Here we go again. Brady could still play, but he might have to be limited to a late-season return. Never say never, but it seems a bit far-fetched to think of a Brady return. It's a fun debate though!

NFL | Tom Brady certain he's done    Thu Jun 1, 10:23 AM

Future Hall of Fame QB Tom Brady said Thursday, June 1, that he is certain he's not playing in the NFL again.

Footballguys view: Brady is on to the next chapter in his life. That includes owning part of the Las Vegas Raiders, and apparently, it does not include playing football again.

NFL | Tom Brady won't join the booth in 2023    Mon Feb 6, 02:38 PM

Recently retired QB Tom Brady told Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports 1 on Monday, Feb. 6, that he expects to begin his broadcast career with FOX in 2024.

Footballguys view: Brady is going to enjoy retirement for some time before getting back to work. Some think he's still not completely retired, but all signs point to him having played his last snap of football in the 2022 season.

Buccaneers | Tom Brady retires    Wed Feb 1, 08:45 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady announced his retirement Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Footballguys view: This time, it might be for good. Brady said as much in a video saying goodbye to the NFL on Wednesday. There is no question he will be a first-ballot Hall of Fame player, leaving the NFL with seven rings (six with the Patriots, one with the Buccaneers). Brady did not look the same this past season for the Buccaneers, but there is no doubt he could have continued playing for another team. Rather than make another run for a ring with a team like the 49ers, Brady is going to start enjoying retirement. There's little doubt he will end up as a TV analyst in the near future.

Dolphins | Miami won't pursue Tom Brady    Sun Jan 29, 10:51 AM

The Miami Dolphins are not expected to pursue Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady in free agency this offseason, if he chooses to continue his playing career, according to multiple league sources.

Footballguys view: Dolphins' owner Stephen Ross is a Michigan man, and he loves Brady (and has wanted him in the past). We think Brady could land somewhere like San Francisco or Las Vegas in the 2023 season. The Dolphins are committed to using QB Tua Tagovailoa as their starter for the 2023 season.

Buccaneers | Tom Brady undecided about future    Mon Jan 23, 09:29 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Tom Brady said he has not made a decision on his future and will take his time before deciding.

Footballguys view: Brady is going to take some time away from the game with the Buccaneers bounced from the playoffs a week ago. We imagine he will be playing in 2023, but it's difficult to determine where that would be. It seemed like the 49ers would make a play for him (again), but now with QB Brock Purdy making an improbable run that might not happen. Maybe Brady winds up in Vegas with the Raiders where he can be reunited with Josh McDaniels. Only time will tell.

Buccaneers | Several TB teammates believe Tom Brady could leave    Sat Jan 21, 10:51 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady is expected to take his time before making a decision about his future. However, some of his teammates believe he will not return to the club in 2023, based on their final interactions with him. One player stated, 'I'd be surprised if he's back,' while another said, 'He sounded like a person saying goodbye for good.'

Footballguys view: We just have a feeling that Brady will be playing somewhere else in 2023. The 49ers may have been his most likely destination, but the play of QB Brock Purdy (and oh yeah, they still have QB Trey Lance) might have changed their mind about adding the GOAT. No matter what, it just doesn't seem like Brady is going to be on the Buccaneers' roster in 2023.

Raiders | Las Vegas could have interest in Tom Brady    Sat Jan 7, 10:32 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady could be targeted by the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency if he decides to continue his playing career beyond this season, according to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Footballguys view: Brady is going to keep playing if he wants to, and Raiders' head coach Josh McDaniels would love to be reunited. The Raiders make sense, but they won't be the only team interested. There's plenty of buzz that the San Francisco 49ers will make a strong push for Brady this offseason.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay's injury report for Week 18    Fri Jan 6, 01:39 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (shoulder), DB Logan Ryan (knee), OT Donovan Smith (foot) and DT Vita Vea (calf) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 18 against the Atlanta Falcons. LB Carl Nassib (pectoral) was limited in practice all week but has also been ruled out. S Mike Edwards (hamstring, hip) and WR Julio Jones (knee, illness) were limited in practice Friday, Jan. 6, and are listed as questionable. CB Jamel Dean (toe) was upgraded to a full practice Friday but is also listed as questionable. LB Lavonte David (rest) and DE Akiem Hicks (rest) did not practice Friday but are expected to play. OT Tristan Wirfs (ankle) and QB Tom Brady (rest) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Footballguys view: We'll see how long Tom Brady and the starters play in a meaningless game against Atlanta. It's probably better to not trust Brady, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin over players with full motivation this week.

Buccaneers | Tom Brady, starters expected in Week 18    Mon Jan 2, 11:17 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady appears likely to start in Week 18 against the Atlanta Falcons. 'We can get better at a lot of things, so right now I'm planning on playing (the starters),' head coach Todd Bowles said Monday, Jan. 2. 'We'll see as the week goes forward, but we can get better at a lot of things that we need to work on, and we don't need to take our foot off the gas.' Bowles didn't rule out pulling the starters at some point, however.

Footballguys view: The Buccaneers have won the NFC South, so there's no need to play the starters. They'll want to carry over some momentum after the big Week 17 performance, but we wouldn't be surprised to see the Buccaneers shut down their starters after a half or so.

Buccaneers | Tom Brady accounts for four touchdowns    Sun Jan 1, 06:18 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady went 34-for-45 for 432 yards and three touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17. He also rushed for four yards and one touchdown on three carries during the game.

Footballguys view: Brady saved his best for last, as the Bucs clinched the division and a home playoff game, against either the Cowboys or the Eagles. He's heating up at the right time and will still inspire some fear in his wild card opponent.

Buccaneers | Tom Brady throws two TDs in OT loss    Sun Nov 27, 05:31 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady completed 29-of-43 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns while running for two yards.

Footballguys view: Brady battled the conditions and a tough Browns pass rush in the bitter loss. He is leveling off as a high floor QB1 in fantasy with Chris Godwin back in form, but there is little margin of error in the division race with only a half game lead on the Falcons and the Saints coming to town next week.

Buccaneers | Tom Brady throws for 300-plus in loss    Fri Oct 28, 12:33 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady completed 26 of his 44 passing attempts for 325 yards and a touchdown during the team's loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Oct. 27. It marked the seventh time in eight games this season that Brady has thrown for one touchdown or less.

Footballguys view: Brady had his best fantasy game in a while thanks to some downfield throws to Mike Evans and a very pass heavy offense in a second half comeback attempt. He's still not the fantasy quarterback we hoped he'd be this year, and he has a tough matchup against the Rams next week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady (non-injury) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, but is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Footballguys view: Brady is just getting some rest on a short week. Is he washed or just in a rough patch? That's the many questions about this Buccaneers offense that can partially be answered against the Ravens in Week 8.
