Free-agent QB Trevone Boykin (Seahawks) was signed to the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad Monday, Sept. 4.
Footballguys view: Boykin was pretty bad in August and he lost the backup job to Austin Davis. He's an athletic QB, but Boykin needs help when it comes to decision making as a passer....and oh yeah, he needs to stay out of trouble off the field. |

The Seattle Seahawks released QB Trevone Boykin, WR Cyril Grayson, DT Tylor Harris, WR Kenny Lawler, TE Marcus Lucas, FB Marcel Reece, WR Darreus Rogers, WR Rodney Smith, TE Tyrone Swoopes and WR Kasen Williams Saturday, Sept. 2.
Footballguys view: Austin Davis will back up Russell Wilson. Williams is a bit of a surprise after a strong preseason but he was claimed by Cleveland and could quickly bid to be their #3 receiver. |

Seattle Seahawks QB Trevone Boykin has been struggling in training camp, according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, and Condotta believes Seattle could bring in a veteran quarterback if Boykin doesn't improve.
Footballguys view: If he continues to struggle will we hear Colin Kaepernick's name again? We're talking backups, which have little to no value in fantasy beyond as handcuffs. This is more out of curiosity in the ongoing Kaepernick saga. |

Seattle Seahawks QB Trevone Boykin could remain with the team after his recent arrest, according to head coach Pete Carroll. 'We'll see, we'll see what happens here, we have some information to get through, there's plenty of time to figure this out,' Carroll said. 'Early indications are that we'll give him an opportunity to be back with us.'
Footballguys view: Boykin was undrafted out of TCU last year, and this isn't his first time tangling with the law. The Seahawks might look for another backup to Russell Wilson. |

Seattle Seahawks QB Trevone Boykin remains the clear No. 2 quarterback behind QB Russell Wilson, but general manager John Schneider said he is keeping an eye on the quarterbacks who become available during training camp.
Footballguys view: Boykin, an undrafted rookie from TCU, has the athleticism to work well in the Seattle system. His raw skill set does need some refining, and trusting him as a primary backup QB on a Super Bowl caliber team is a bit risky. |

Seattle Seahawks rookie QB Trevone Boykin remains the team's primary backup to starter QB Russell Wilson, but beat writer Sheil Kapadia says don't be surprised to see the team add a veteran sometime in August.
Footballguys view: Wilson has been very healthy so the risk is low, but we all know what happens when a top-shelf quarterback goes down to injury with an inexperienced player the only one left to take over. We expect someone else to show up unless Boykin REALLY impresses in camp. Stay tuned. |
