San Francisco 49ers DL Ronald Blair (knee) will be unable to resume practicing when he is eligible to be activated from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list after Week 6, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. He is more likely to make his return between Week 10 and Week 12. Shanahan said that the reason for Blair's longer-than-expected recovery period is because the original surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate in his right knee was unsuccessful. As a result of this setback, Blair was required to undergo follow-up surgery.

D.J. Jones (back), C Weston Richburg (knee), OT Joe Staley (not injury related) and OL Laken Tomlinson (hip) practiced in full and are each off the report.
Footballguys view: The backfield and passing game are both uncertain with the #1 back and #1 and #2 receivers both questionable. This is also one of the two afternoon games, so you'll have a limited number of hedges available if any of the key 49ers are inactive. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Pierre Garcon (neck) was officially placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 4. The team also activated DE Ronald Blair (hand) from the Reserve/Injured list.
Footballguys view: Neck injuries are tricky to deal with, and the 49ers will not be designating Garcon to return this year according to GM John Lynch. Without Garcon, the 49ers WR corps is kind of a mess. Marquise Goodwin has flashed here and there, and he could be in line for the top spot. Aldrick Robinson and rookie Trent Taylor will compete for snaps/targets as well. Look for an increased role for the TEs in the passing game, potentially good news for rookie TE George Kittle. |
