The New England Patriots signed OG Chris Barker, DE Jake Bequette, QB Garrett Gilbert, DB Justin Green, OT Caylin Hauptmann, WR Jonathan Krause, LBs Eric Martin and Deontae Skinner and DB Daxton Swanson to Reserve/Futures deals Thursday, Feb. 5.
| Footballguys view: Gilbert is the former Texans Longhorns quarterback who transferred to SMU. He was a sixth-round pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2014 NFL draft, but he failed to make an impact and was released during final cuts. Gilbert was added to the Rams practice squad, but was released less than two months later. He has good accuracy, but his pop-gun arm isn't going to test defenses. |
