The team also waived injured OG Daniel Loper (undisclosed).

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free-agents LB Baraka Atkins (Broncos), LB Mortty Ivy (Panthers), RB James Johnson (Bengals), OT Nevin McCaskill (Titans), FB Jamie McCoy (Rams) and CB Donovan Warren (Jets) to reserve/future contracts Tuesday, Jan. 11, according to The Associated Press.

LBs Baraka Atkins, Jason Hunter, Jammie Kirlew and Kevin Alexander will likely be fighting for two roster spots at outside linebacker.

Mike Sando, of ESPN.com, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Jim Mora said he has been impressed with DE Lawrence Jackson, DE Darryl Tapp and DE Baraka Atkins during offseason workouts.
| Footballguys view: Sando said he mentioned Jackson and Tapp, and Mora added Atkins, so the versatile DE from Miami might get a chance to break into the rotation this year. Mora said it's time for them to step up their games, so it sounds like he expects to be impressed and will be disappointed if they don't stand out in camp this year. |
