Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch could make history    Sun Dec 23, 04:06 AM

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is 121 yards short of becoming the third player in franchise history to reach 1,500 for a season, joining Chris Warren (1,545 in 1994) and Shaun Alexander (1,696 in 2004 and 1,880 in 2005).

NFL | Shaun Alexander still wants to play in the NFL    Thu Aug 27, 07:31 PM

106.7 The Fan in Washington DC reports that Shaun Alexander still thinks he can make a difference as a running back in the NFL. Alexander said in an interview, "I feel that is if I was at the right team and the right situation, I could really help somebody. One thing I've been doing since I was a little kid and that's score touchdowns so if somebody needs somebody to get in the red zone and do some work, I could probably still do that pretty well."

Footballguys view: Since Alexander was a starting RB, at least 15-20 fresh backs have entered the league and made players like him obsolete. If he had run with the same level of desire that he is expressing to play again, he might have lasted longer once his career was on the decline.

NFL | Alexander says he has spoken to some teams    Thu Jul 9, 12:38 PM

Josh Bean, of the Mobile Press-Register, reports unrestricted free-agent RB Shaun Alexander (Redskins) said he has had preliminary talks with some NFL teams.

Footballguys view: Most of the NFL knows that Shaun Alexander is done. He played with the Washington Redskins last year and looked like a shadow of his former self. Veteran running backs like Edgerrin James have a chance at getting signed, but Alexander won't be added to a roster unless the team is really, really desperate.

Redskins | Alexander would like to return in 2009    Sat May 16, 08:36 AM

Free-agent RB Shaun Alexander (Redskins) said during a radio interview with KNBR in San Francisco that he would like to return to play for the Washington Redskins this season but is unsure if the opportunity will come. 'I don't know. My agents are talking. I would love to,' Alexander said. 'I'm training with my new trainers up in New Jersey like I'm going to be their (Redskins) guy and come play with them. Of course they have Clinton (Portis) and Ladell (Betts) and they've brought in a couple of guys. For me its like they know what I can do so they're going to check to see what their guys can do and then after that we'll make a decision.'

Footballguys view: It's debatable whether or not Alexander would beat the likes of Anthony Alridge or Marcus Mason for the final RB spot with the Redskins. If Washington doesn't like what they see from their backups they might bring in the veteran for a tryout.

NFL | Alexander hopes to play this season    Thu May 14, 05:00 PM

Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times, reports unrestricted free-agent RB Shaun Alexander (Redskins) has been working out and hopes to play this season.

Footballguys view: Shaun Alexander hasn't been the same player he used to be for a couple of seasons and it's doubtful that he'll ever regain his form. He could catch on with another team but it will have to be after injuries hit in training camp.
