OK. enough of the lawyer stuff...
There will be no draft. A subscriber simply chooses a team from the pre-determined values. Roster selection can be changed until the deadline passes (4:20 pm (ET) Saturday, Jan 4th) at which point it will be frozen. No roster moves are permitted once the contest starts.
Each participant will be able to choose any player from the pulldown lists as long as the team is at or below the cap value of $250. Players not on the pull-down lists are not available.
Each selection has a different cap value, but all teams must remain at or under the $250 cap. Note: Even though the software should show you if you are within the cap, it is your responsibility to ensure you have a team that is valued at $250 or less. Teams that have spent more than $250 will be disqualified.
Each submission is tied in with your login so you can edit and tweak all the way until 4:20 pm ET on January 4th. Your last submission will be your final roster.
The Contest will be Survivor-style. By survivor style, we mean that only the high scores for JUST THAT WEEK advance to the next round. Scores reset each week.
The weekly cutoffs are as follows:
Wildcard week: trim to 4,000 teams (all advance if we have fewer entries)
Divisional week: trim to 2,000 teams
Championship week: trim to 1,000 teams
The contest winner will be the team, of those still alive after Championship Week, which scores the most total points in the Super Bowl.
In the first three rounds, ONLY YOUR TWO HIGHEST-SCORING PLAYERS FROM EACH NFL TEAM WILL COUNT TOWARD YOUR SCORE. In the Super Bowl, ALL your players count toward your score.
EXAMPLE. suppose you have three Seahawks on your team: Wilson, Lynch, and Lockett. In the first round of the playoffs, Wilson scores 19, Lynch 16, and Lockett 11. For this round, only Wilson and Lynch would count toward your team's score. Lockett's points are wasted. Suppose that the next week, in the divisional playoff, Wilson scores 22, Lockett 14, and Lynch 7. Then only Wilson and Lockett (not Lynch) would count toward your score for that week. Finally, if the Seahawks make the Super Bowl and your team is still alive, then Wilson's, Lynch's, and Lockett's scores will ALL count toward your score in the Super Bowl.
Also note that, except as noted in the scoring system below (TEs, WRs, and RBs get different numbers of points per reception), positions are irrelevant in all rounds. Positions play no role in determining which players' scores count.
Ties in the first three rounds will advance. For final standings, tiebreakers are as follows.
1st tiebreaker - the greatest number of players on your roster (each D/ST counts as one player).
2nd tiebreaker - a total combined score of all players on your roster for all weeks of the contest. This includes all scores, even those that did not count in the first three rounds.
3rd tiebreaker - greatest number of $2 players on roster.
4th tiebreaker - greatest number of $3 players on roster.
5th tiebreaker - the greatest number of $4 players on the roster.
Scoring will be calculated to two decimal places (no rounding).
Player Scoring (QB, RB, WR, TE)
- Passing TDs = 6 points
- Interceptions Thrown = -1 points
- Rushing TD = 6 points
- Receiving TD = 6 points
- Passing Yardage = .05 points per yard
- Rushing Yardage = .10 points per yard
- Receiving Yardage = .10 points per yard
- Receptions for RB = 0.5 points
- Receptions for WR = 1.0 points
- Receptions for TE = 1.5 points
In the event of a discrepancy among stat providers on any of the above statistics for any of the above positions, the nfl.com player page game logs will be deemed to be official. For players listed on the contest form as QB, RB, WR, or TE, no points will be awarded for any stats not listed above (e.g. return TDs, fumble recovery TDs, receptions for QB, two-point conversions, etc.).
Kicker Scoring (PK)
- Made FG = 3 points for FGs 30 yards and lower plus 0.1 points for every yard over 30.
- Example: a 29-yard FG would be worth 3 points
- Example: a 45-yard FG would be worth 4.5 points
- Extra Point Made = 1 point
For players listed as PK on the contest form, no points will be awarded for anything other than field goals and PAT. In the event of a discrepancy among stat providers on field goal length, the "Scoring Summary" section of the nfl.com boxscore is deemed to be official. The nfl.com player page game log will be the official source for PAT.
Def/ST Scoring (Def/ST)
- Sack = 1 point
- Turnover by the opposing team = 2 points
- Defensive/ST TD = 6 points
For the purposes of clarity, we declare a Defensive/ST TD to be any TD that is not a rushing or a passing TD (This will very occasionally INCLUDE a fumble recovery TD by an offensive player, and it might theoretically EXCLUDE a passing or rushing TD that happens on a special teams play. So be it.) A Turnover is defined to be a fumble lost or an interception. For all of the above stats, we will refer to the nfl.com boxscore for the game (the team stats section). For entities listed on the contest form as Defenses, no points will be awarded for any stats other than those listed above.
Users have until 5:00 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday to report possible scoring errors or discrepancies for that week's games. All errors reported via the FBG help desk before that time will be corrected as soon as possible. Any error not reported by 5:00 Eastern on Wednesday (including, but not limited to, errors retroactively introduced by official league stat changes) will stand as posted.
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st place: $1,000 + lifetime Insider Pro subscription
2nd place: $250 + lifetime Insider Pro subscription
3rd place: $200 + lifetime subscription
4th place: $100 + 2020 Insider Pro subscription
5th place: $75 + 2020 Insider Pro subscription
6th place: $50 + 2020 Insider Pro subscription
7th - 12th place: $30
Ties will share prizes. For example if 4th and 5th place tie, each would receive $87.50 + their subscription.
Staff entries will be highlighted in red and tracked through the contest, but are not eligible to win any prizes. Staff entries will not count toward the weekly cutoffs.
