With a contest that has 229,885 entries it is hard to believe that cookies248's team could win by 6.48 points over 2nd place haskele. That is a very impressive feat in such a big entry GPP. To do that cookies248 had to really have a unique lineup with some highly under owned players in it. Let's take a look at his lineup and what percentage made up his team.
Cookies248 had five of his nine positions filled with players that were under 6.7% owned. Running back Devonta Freeman was his highest scoring player at 39.8 FanDuel points at an ownership rate of 6.7%. He also had Joseph Randle who was at a 5.2% ownership rate and he scored 29.5 points. What is interesting about this duo at RB is that they are both from the same game and were priced identical at $6,500. The RB combo was a beast with 3 touchdowns each and a low combined ownership at a decent price that allowed cookies248 to build a solid lineup all around.
Cookies248 went with the QB/TE stack with Cam Newton and Greg Olsen and it paid off big as it was an affordable price ($7,900 + $5,900) and gave him a total of 59.3 points from the combo. It was the trio of WRs that made the difference as he got ownership of DeAndre Hopkins at 5.5% and Keenan Allen at 1.6% as well as Steve Smith at 2.5%. All three WRs were in good matchups and looked to be pivots off of higher own players at a similar price. At kicker Stephen Gostkowski was price as a higher option at $5,000 and saw ownership of 10.8% and was a nice play if you faded the Patriots offensive players. The Seahawks defense was the chalk play as they had a nice home matchup against a Bears team that has everything going against them currently. The Seahawks defense was owned by 10.8% in the Sunday Million and came away with 17.00 points.
Position | Player | Salary | FanDuel Points | % Owned |
QB | Cam Newton | $7,900 | 29.90 | 8.6% |
RB | Joseph Randle | $6,500 | 29.50 | 5.2% |
RB | Devonta Freeman | $6,500 | 39.80 | 6.7% |
WR | DeAndre Hopkins | $7,800 | 20.10 | 5.5% |
WR | Keenan Allen | $7,600 | 31.30 | 1.6% |
WR | Steve Smith | $7,100 | 37.10 | 2.5% |
TE | Greg Olsen | $5,900 | 29.40 | 10.5% |
K | Stephen Gostkowski | $5,000 | 17.00 | 10.8% |
D | Seattle Seahawks | $5,300 | 18.00 | 22.6% |
$59,600 | 209.66 |
Going through the top 10 teams in Week 3 of the Sunday Million one trend stood out as you needed to have Greg Olsen rostered at tight end. He was owned in each of the top ten teams and was only owned on 10.5% of the overall field of teams. The other big players in the top ten were Devonta Freeman at $6,500 who was owned by 8 of the top 10 teams, Seattle defense by 7, Stephen Gostkowski by 6, and A.J. Green on 6 teams. Randall Cobb and Larry Fitzgerald were also rostered by 5 of the top 10 teams and each had huge weeks.
At quarterback the two top plays were Andy Dalton and Cam Newton who were both rostered on 3 teams each. The other four quarterbacks were Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and surprisingly Sam Bradford (on the third place team). Cam Newton was priced at $7,900 and Andy Dalton at $7,100 and the two were some of the great value plays at the quarterback position.
Latavius Murray and Joseph Randle both were on four teams a piece offering some nice value to build a team around. Surprisingly Adrian Peterson and LeVeon Bell were the only two high priced RB to crack the top 10 and were each only owned once and Jamaal Charles around the same price who scored 3 touchdowns wasn't on a single top ten roster. Each of the top ten rosters are very well balanced and finding the combination of under owned players with players that also are higher owned can bring a huge reward in the end.
