FanDuel was back at it again with their massive Week 2 Sunday Million contest, requiring a $25 entry fee with 46,000 people getting paid out. This massive $5 million GPP tournament had 229,885 entries available for buy-in and only ended up filling to 215,385 spots creating some great overlay for the customer. Every week FanDuel will be running a Sunday Million GPP Contest and we will break it down here at Footballguys.com and see what the keys were to having the top lineup on the week and taking home the top prize of $1 million.
Here's how Week 2 of the Sunday Million shook out.

With a contest that has 215,385 entries it is hard to believe that jeremiah1974db's team could win by 8.60 points over 2nd place quinny418. That is a very impressive feat in such a big entry GPP. To do that jeremiah1974db had to really have a unique lineup with some highly under owned players in it. Let's take a look at his lineup and what percentage made up his team.
Jeremiah1974db had six of his nine positions filled with players that were under 6.1% owned. Running back Dion Lewis at only $5,200 gave him a 4x value at scoring 20.80 FanDuel points and was only 0.6% owned. He also hit another home run at wide receiver with Travis Benjamin also only 0.6% owned and got 6x value on his $5,000 price tag with 31.00 points. He took a big chance on his defense with going against the grain and taking the New York Jets against the offensive minded Colts and it paid off nicely with 14 points at a 0.9% ownership rate.
The QB/WR stack was the one that jeremiah1974bd built around with Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown as the combo produced 62.66 points total. Roethlisberger was only 4.1% owned which was a big surprise as he was priced at a decent $8,400 salary. His second running back was Adrian Peterson who people swayed away from playing after his disappointing performance a week ago. At $9,000 Peterson was owned at a 6.6% rate and he 2x his value with 18.20 points as the RB position was a hard one to nail down in Week 2 and a lot of the good RBs in good matchups failed to live up to the hype. He nailed it also on his whole WR group with Antonio Brown (26.5%), Larry Fitzgerald (6.1%), and Travis Benjamin (0.6%) as the trio scored a combined 96.20 FanDuel points. At tight end he took the best one on the board and got Rob Gronkowski for $8,300 at an 11.5% ownership rate.
Position | Player | Salary | FanDuel Points | % Owned |
QB | Ben Roethlisberger | $8,400 | 30.66 | 4.1% |
RB | Adrian Peterson | $9,000 | 18.20 | 6.6% |
RB | Dion Lewis | $5,200 | 20.80 | 0.6% |
WR | Antonio Brown | $9,200 | 32.00 | 26.5% |
WR | Larry Fitzgerald | $5,900 | 33.20 | 6.1% |
WR | Travis Benjamin | $5,000 | 31.00 | 0.6% |
TE | Rob Gronkowski | $8,300 | 20.80 | 11.5% |
K | Josh Brown | $4,500 | 9.00 | 20.3% |
D | New York Jets | $4,300 | 14.00 | 0.9% |
$59,800 | 209.66 |
Going through the top 10 teams in Week 2 of the Sunday Million it was fairly simple at QB, it was either Ben Roethlisberger or Tom Brady on each of the ten teams. Roethlisberger was on 6 of the 10 and 5 of the top 6 teams. At RB it was DeAngelo Williams at 2.7% owned that made up 8 teams in the top 10 but still wasn't on the winning roster. There were no other noticeable RBs on any of the top 10 teams as the next popular was Chris Johnson who was only on two different teams and every other RB was a single entry on the list. The week was all about pinning the correct WRs as Antonio Brown was on 7 of 10 teams, Larry Fitzgerald was on 9 of 10, and Julian Edelman (5) and Travis Benjamin (3).
At the tight end position it was a little more scattered with Rob Gronkowski being the top option for 4 out of the 10 teams. Heath Miller and Jason Witten were next in line with being on 2 teams each and Tyler Eifert and Jordan Reed finding single teams.
At kicker it was Josh Brown on 3 teams and Stephen Gostkowski also on 3 teams. Travis Coons was also on two teams despite only putting up 1 fantasy point. At defense it was Arizona being the play with being on 4 of the top 5 teams and the New York Jets finding their way on two of the top 10 teams. These two positions are ones that you can easily fade the popular opinions as none of the top 10 defenses were the popular plays in Miami, St Louis, or Baltimore.
