As the season progresses it is hard to find those diamonds in the rough or that guy that no one has heard of. This week we are going to examine the plethora of injuries across the league and who the most likely successor is to that starting job as well as highlight some prime matchups as well as surprising performers to this point. This article will also highlight a few long-term and speculative players that could see their value rise over the course of the season.
ILB Germaine Pratt (CIN):
It is easy to see his stat line from week 1 and think it was a fluke. He led the team with 12 tackles on just 76% of defensive snaps. The Bengals subbed Logan Wilson in on clear passing downs, and Pratt was still able to deliver. His snap to tackle ratio points to big things to come and he has a great matchup against the Browns on Thursday Night this week. With the Browns offense struggling to move the ball through the air, look for a lot of rushing attempts and for Pratt to be on the field more.
ILB Jon Bostic (WAS):
With an injury to Thomas Davis, Bostic was thrust into the lineup and played every down as the defensive leader. He had a very solid 8 total tackles and a sack against a porous Philadelphia offensive line. He is going to have a tougher time tracking down Kyler Murray but should have the volume again to produce tackles when stopping the run. Bostic is a cheap option this week that could approach double digit total tackles if the Cardinals get up early and run the ball.
