CHICAGO BEARS VS DETROIT LIONS SINGLE GAME DFS SLATE
This article is a new feature which will break down the single game slates on DraftKings and FanDuel guiding you which players to play and where to play them.
STRATEGY- CAPTAIN AND MVP POSITIONS
FanDuel-
On FanDuel the pricing of the MVP is the same as if they are not in the MVP position. This limits the strategy as you really want to take the player that you believe is going to score the most points which is often your most expensive player or a player who has the most upside on your roster.
DraftKings-
On DraftKings, the strategy is a little bit more complex as the players are priced at 1.5x their flex position if you play them in the captain position. This creates an intriguing strategy as while the top priced player may score the most points, it often limits you on the rest of your build. Often times, putting in a player who can have a big day but not in the captain spot will allow you to build the rest of your roster with a higher point potential.
PLAYER OVERVIEW-
Chase Daniel- $9,300 DraftKings Captain, $6,200 DraftKings Flex, $6,000 FanDuel
Chase Daniel is an ideal captain play on DraftKings this week and the, mostly because he is simply underpriced with the news that Mitchell Trubisky is likely to miss this game. Daniel is in an ideal spot in this game as he faces a Detroit Lions secondary that is fading as they have allowed an average of 356 yards passing over the last two weeks. Daniel is a limited quarterback in terms of talent which is a big reason why he has only made two starts in his nine year NFL career, but think of him as a Case Keenum type player and to be able to get him at this big of a discount makes him one of the top plays on the board.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel MVP, FanDuel Flex
Matthew Stafford-$14,100 DraftKings Captain, $9,400 DraftKings Flex, $15,500 FanDuel
With a lot of uncertainty in this game, looking at taking both quarterbacks is a solid strategy this week. Matthew Stafford likely has the safest floor on this slate with just as much upside as anyone. The Lions are going to be in a spot where it is going to be difficult to run against Akiem Hicks, Khalil Mack and this Bears defense, which ultimately means they are going to have to move the ball through the air in this game. In the previous meeting, Stafford threw for 272 yards with 2 touchdowns, but did throw 2 interceptions. With the game back in the dome this week against a tired defense that is playing on the shortest rest in NFL history, this could be a scenario where Stafford and the Lions have a good game. With no great high priced options this week, he’s likely going to be the highest owned player.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel MVP, FanDuel Flex
Trey Burton- $6,900 DraftKings Captain, $4,600 DraftKings Flex, $9,500 FanDuel
Burton is a boom or bust play which on the showdown slate is the perfect type of guy to take in the DraftKings Captain spot in a GPP or as a punt in the flex positions. Burton has scored a touchdown in 5 of the team’s 10 games this season which is all you’re really hoping for at the price tag that he is at this week. The matchup is less than ideal as Detroit has been about league average against the tight end, but Burton did have 4 receptions for 40 yards the last time these two teams met and with Chase Daniel at quarterback this week who does not have the strongest arm, he may look to Burton more than Trubisky had in previous weeks. His price is too high on FanDuel at $9,500, but on DraftKings he makes for an excellent upside play.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain
Tarik Cohen- $12,900 DraftKings Captain, $8,600 DraftKings, $10,000 FanDuel
Jordan Howard is going to popular in this game as the rushing defense for Detroit has struggled on the season. However, with addition of Damon Harrison and rookie Da’Shawn Hand playing well, this is a team that is strong up the middle which is where Jordan Howard runs. Where this defense is susceptible is off-tackle and giving up big runs as they did to Dalvin Cook with a 70 yard run. The Lions have also struggled giving up receptions to opposing running backs over the last two weeks as they have allowed 13 receptions including 6 to Cohen in their previous meeting in Week 10. The one issue here might be that he does not have enough touches to have upside for the Captain or MVP spot.
Usable in: DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
Bruce Ellington- $4,200 DraftKings Captain, $2,800 DraftKings, $8,500 FanDuel
Bruce Ellington is going to be the number two wide receiver this week due to Marvin Jones being out for the Lions in a game in which they will be forced to throw the ball without their top running back being out against one of the best run defenses in football. Ellington last week saw nine targets in a game without Marvin Jones and this week will draw Prince Amukamara who is a gambling corner who has struggled over the last two weeks as he has an allowed an average of 11 targets, 8 receptions and 89 yards including two touchdowns allowed last week.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
Kenny Golladay- $15,900 DraftKings Captain, $10,600 DraftKings Captain, $13,500 FanDuel
Kenny Golladay is the most expensive player on DraftKings and the second most expensive player on FanDuel. Outside of the quarterback position, he likely has the most upside of anyone on this slate as with Marvin Jones out, he’s the primary target in this offense. In the previous meeting Golladay had 6 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. He’s expensive this week, but there may be enough value to include him in your lineup.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
