Jacksonville Jaguars vs Tennessee Titans Single-Game Showdown Slate
This article is a new feature which will break down the single-game slates on DraftKings and FanDuel guiding you which players to play and where to play them.
STRATEGY- CAPTAIN AND MVP POSITIONS
On FanDuel the pricing of the MVP is the same as if they are not in the MVP position. This limits the strategy as you really want to take the player that you believe is going to score the most points which is often your most expensive player or a player who has the most upside on your roster.
On DraftKings, the strategy is a little bit more complex as the players are priced at 1.5x their flex position if you play them in the captain position. This creates an intriguing strategy as while the top priced player may score the most points, it often limits you on the rest of your build. Often times, putting in a player who can have a big day but not in the captain spot will allow you to build the rest of your roster with a higher point potential.
Leonard Fournette-$18,000 DraftKings Captain, $12,000 DraftKings Flex, $17,000 FanDuel
Fournette is high priced this week and yet the price is fair with how few of options there are on this slate in what should be a very low scoring game with an over/under of 37.5. Both defenses are solid across the board, but if there is one player who could take advantage of an advantageous matchup it would be Fournette. On the season, the Titans run defense has been solid allowing the sixth-fewest points to opposing running backs, but they are showing cracks in the armor as over the last three weeks the Titans are allowing 150 yards and 1.0 touchdowns per game. Rookie Rashaan Evans who was solid to start the season has struggled as of late and if the offensive line can keep Jurrell Casey in check then it could be a big day for the Jaguars running back.
Jaguars Defense- $8,700 DraftKings Captain, $5,800 DraftKings Flex, N/A FanDuel
This is a bit of a risky play this week, but the Jaguars defense has flipped a switch and went back to playing at an elite level last week. This is a defense that is an opportunistic defense that when they are good they are fantastic as they have five games in which they have three or more sacks this season and five games in which they have forced two or more turnovers. The good news for the Jaguars this week is they are facing a Titans team that has been sacked the second most times in the NFL this season and has fumbled the ball 13 times which is the 8th most, but the Titans have been a bit fortunate as they have only lost five of those fumbles.

Jonnu Smith- $7,500 DraftKings Captain, $5,000 DraftKings Flex, $9,000 FanDuel
The Jaguars defense when they’re good makes it incredibly difficult to throw against them, but if they have had a weakness as of late it has been against the tight end position. Over the last eight games, the Jaguars have allowed either 80 yards receiving or a touchdown to opposing tight ends. The Jaguars seem to have recognized the problem as they mysteriously benched Barry Church last week as he did not play a single snap, but it did not help as Ronnie Harrison struggled and Eric Ebron had a big day with 10 receptions for 81 yards. Jonnu Smith has not been consistent for most of the season, but seems to be getting more involved in the offense as of late after some early season struggles as he has scored a touchdown in three of his last five games.
Usable in: DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
Donte Moncrief- $8,400 DraftKings Captain, $5,600 DraftKings Flex, $7,000 FanDuel
Someone has to catch the ball in this game for Jacksonville as even though Cody Kessler is starting and he has a limited skill-set at the quarterback position and has thrown for just 306 yards in six quarters of action he still will be throwing enough in this game that a receiver is at least intriguing. The receiver to start on Jacksonville has to be Donte Moncrief in this game as in the two games that Kessler has played, Moncrief has seen 14 targets which is the highest amongst any player on the Jaguars. Moncrief is a player who should see a significant amount of time matched up against Malcolm Butler this week which Butler has been burned on long touchdowns this season providing upside for Moncrief. While you are not going to want to start any of these receivers in the MVP spot on FanDuel, it could be a sneaky play to play him at the Captain spot on DraftKings and hope he catches a long touchdown as he has done twice this season.

Dion Lewis- $11,100 DraftKings Captain, $7,400 DraftKings Flex, $11,000 FanDuel
The Jaguars defense is one of the most difficult to run against, but there have been times this season where the Jaguars have struggled against running backs who can catch passes out of the backfield. Just last week, we saw Nyheim Hines catch nine passes. The Titans when they are facing a tough defensive matchup have utilized Lewis more in this role recently as he saw seven receptions against the Texans two weeks ago and nine receptions earlier this season against the Eagles when they were playing well against the run. This is more of a DraftKings play than a FanDuel play due to the full PPR value and the price adjustments for the Captain position, but if Lewis can catch five or more passes he should pay off his price this week.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
Marcus Mariota- $15,600 DraftKings Captain, $10,400 DraftKings Flex, $16,000 FanDuel
Mariota is going to be extremely popular this week as there are not a lot of great top-end options this week as even Cody Kessler at the other quarterback is not a desirable play this week at his price. The problem is that the matchup is a very difficult one going up against a Jaguars team that just shut out the high-powered Colts offense. The first time that these two teams met, Mariota threw the ball just 18 times for 100 yards but was able to rush for 51 yards in this game. The upside is relatively limited for Mariota unless he can find the end zone on the ground, but the entire slate is likely low upside players due to the low projected total in this game. Fournette is a better overall play with more upside. You are really taking Mariota for the floor in what should be a low scoring game in this one rather than his upside and is more of a cash game play than a GPP play this week.
