JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS VS TENNESSEE TITANS SINGLE-GAME SHOWDOWN SLATE
This article is a new feature which will break down the single-game slates on DraftKings and FanDuel guiding you which players to play and where to play them.
STRATEGY- CAPTAIN AND MVP POSITIONS
FanDuel-
On FanDuel the pricing of the MVP is the same as if they are not in the MVP position. This limits the strategy as you really want to take the player that you believe is going to score the most points which is often your most expensive player or a player who has the most upside on your roster.
DraftKings-
On DraftKings, the strategy is a little bit more complex as the players are priced at 1.5x their flex position if you play them in the captain position. This creates an intriguing strategy as while the top priced player may score the most points, it often limits you on the rest of your build. Often times, putting in a player who can have a big day but not in the captain spot will allow you to build the rest of your roster with a higher point potential.
PLAYER OVERVIEW-
Todd Gurley-$18,000 DraftKings Captain, $12,000 DraftKings Flex, $17,000 FanDuel
The Eagles run defense has fallen on hard times as of late as the once dominant unit has fallen on hard times since Week 10. This is a unit that played Ezekiel Elliott twice and allowed an average of 132 yards rushing, and 58 yards receiving. They have allowed 98 yards or more to every running back they’ve faced since Week 10 and 80 yards to a running back in every game since Week 7. This is a unit that has primarily been forced to play a significant amount of Dime defense to overcompensate for their poor pass defense which should give Todd Gurley plenty of room in this one. He has the highest upside of any player on this slate.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel MVP, FanDuel Flex
Nick Foles- $12,900 DraftKings Captain, $8,600 DraftKings Flex, 14,000 FanDuel
Foles is a better play on DraftKings simply because he’s too cheap as he is the beneficiary of being named the starter mid-week and any time you can get a quarterback in this format as the 7th most expensive player, you have to strongly consider him. Foles has been erratic throughout his time as a starter. Foles has only thrown for 300 yards once in the regular season since 2014 but was a different quarterback in the playoffs last season. In a must-win game the Eagles are not going to have the luxury of being conservative, they are going to need Foles to play his best game in a tough matchup against the revamped Rams defense with Aqib Talib back this week.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel MVP, FanDuel Flex
Josh Reynolds- $8,700 DraftKings Captain, $5,800 DraftKings Flex, $8,000 FanDuel
The entire Eagles secondary is exploitable and all of the receivers are in a great spot. We are going to have to find somewhere to save salary on this slate, and Josh Reynolds may be the player to do that with. Reynolds who was on the field for 100% of the snaps last week has yet to have a big week, but this may be the week he does as he is going up against De’Vante Bausby who has bounced around practice squads and was a big reason why Amari Cooper had a massive week last week with 217 yards and 3 touchdowns. He likely does not have the upside to be in the captain/MVP slot, but if he can find the end zone he will be a big contributor to your lineup this week.
Usable in: DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
Nelson Agholor- $6,300 DraftKings Captain, $4,200 DraftKings Flex, $7,500 FanDuel
Nelson Agholor has struggled as of recent weeks, but if there is a player who might benefit the most with Nick Foles starting it is likely Agholor. In the two games that Foles started earlier this season, Agholor had 16 receptions and 22 targets. While he is primarily used as a possession type receiver his upside is relatively limited, but at his price offers a nice savings if he can get back to the volumes we saw earlier. Starting Agholor is a little risky as in those two games earlier this season the Eagles did not have Golden Tate who could draw some of that volume away from Agholor, but if there is a cheap receiver on the Eagles that has chemistry with Foles it is Agholor.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
Jared Goff- $17,400 DraftKings Captain, $11,600 DraftKings Flex, $15,500 FanDuel
The Eagles secondary might be the worst in the NFL this season as they are decimated by injury and are missing four of their five corners to start the season. This is a unit that is coming off of an embarrassing 455 yard 3 touchdown performance to Dak Prescott last week. Since Week 4, the Eagles have allowed 303 yards per game passing and it would be higher if not for facing Mark Sanchez for a majority of the game after Colt McCoy went out with an injury. This is a perfect rebound spot for Goff and the Rams offense after struggling against the Bears on Sunday Night Football last week. Goff likely has the highest floor of anyone on this slate and is a great cash game play.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel MVP, FanDuel Flex
Zach Ertz- $13,200 DraftKings Captain, $8,800 DraftKings Flex, $13,000 FanDuel
The issue with this game is that all of the production is going to come through very high priced players. Ertz is in a prime spot in this game as when Nick Foles started earlier this season, Ertz was the primary target for Foles. Ertz saw 23 targets in the two games that Foles started this season. Adding to Ertz’ upside is that the matchup is a great one. The Rams have allowed 90 yards or more to four tight ends this season (Levine Toilolo, Travis Kelce, George Kittle, Jared Cook). If the Eagles get behind in this game, this could be a week where Ertz has 10 or more receptions.
Usable in: DraftKings Flex, FanDuel MVP, FanDuel Flex
OTHER PLAYERS TO CONSIDER
Josh Adams- $7,200 DraftKings Captain, $4,800 DraftKings Flex, $11,000 FanDuel
Brandin Cooks- $14,400 DraftKings Captain $9,600 DraftKings Flex, $12,000 FanDuel
Gerald Everett- $3,300 DraftKings Captain, $2,200 DraftKings Flex, $6,500 FanDuel
Rams Defense- $6,900 DraftKings Captain, $4,600 DraftKings Flex
