Value Plays, Overvalued Players, and Deep Sleepers

The Footballguys staff looks at who to target and avoid at QB, RB, WR, and TE

The Footballguys staff updates their popular series. This update is for Insider PRO members only.

Value Plays

A fantasy draft is all about obtaining the most value with each selection. There is value available throughout a draft, and grabbing it is one of the most important keys to a successful fantasy team. In an attempt to point out this value, we asked our staff to look through the top 150 players and identify players that should outperform their draft position. Here are links to each position's page:

Quarterbacks
Players mentioned include Sam Bradford, Ryan Tannehill, and Teddy Bridgewater.

Running Backs
Players mentioned include Ameer Abdullah, Tre Mason, and C.J. Anderson.

Wide Receivers
Players mentioned include John Brown, Steve Smith, and Keenan Allen.

Tight Ends
Players mentioned include Kyle Rudolph, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, and Jason Witten.

Overvalued Players

The flip side of succeeding with value players is failing with overvalued players. These are players that will not put up stats commensurate to their draft spot, and avoiding them is another of the important keys to a successful fantasy team. In an attempt to point out these players, we asked our staff to look through the top 150 players and identify players that should underperform their draft position. Here are links to each position's page:

Quarterbacks
Players mentioned include Sam Bradford, Tom Brady, and Russell Wilson.

Running Backs
Players mentioned include Carlos Hyde, Todd Gurley, and LeSean McCoy.

Wide Receivers
Players mentioned include Golden Tate, Sammy Watkins, and Keenan Allen.

Tight Ends
Players mentioned include Josh Hill, Owen Daniels, and Julius Thomas.

Deep Sleepers

Finally, we specifically target deep sleeper value (players that can be found very late in a fantasy draft). In an attempt to point out this value, we asked our staff to look deeper than the top 150 players and identify players that should significantly outperform their late draft position. These players should be your targets after the 12th round of your draft. Here are links to each position's page:

Quarterbacks
Players mentioned include Derek Carr, Robert Griffin III, and Marcus Mariota.

Running Backs
Players mentioned include Javorius Allen, Khiry Robinson, and Jonas Gray.

Wide Receivers
Players mentioned include Eddie Royal, Dwayne Bowe, and Michael Crabtree.

Tight Ends
Players mentioned include LaDarius Green, Heath Miller, and Jace Amaro.
