DraftKings Week 8 Starting Stacks

A selection of high-upside QB-based stacks for consideration in GPPs this weekend.

In this weekly DraftKings article, we will discuss some cash game stacks that should provide a high floor for your 50-50 and H2H cash game contests. These stacks are safe to use in your GPP tournaments as well, but they will most likely carry a high ownership percentage. In the second half of this article, we will review some lower-owned GPP stacks along with a defensive stack.

*This article focuses on stacks from DraftKings main slate and does not include Thursday Night Football, The London game, Sunday Night Football, or Monday Night Football. With six teams on a bye this week, DraftKings main slate is reduced to only nine NFL games. This will create more overlap with your most popular players as compared to most main slates.

Philadelphia Eagles versus San Francisco 49ers

QB Carson Wentz $7,200 with TE Zach Ertz $7,000 (Cash/GPP)

Alternative/Super Stacks: WR Alshon Jeffery $6,700 (GPP Only)

Correlation Play: WR Pierre Garcon $6,100 (GPP Only)

The Eagles have a prime matchup at home against the 49ers with the highest team total (30.25) of the week. The 49ers have allowed the second most fantasy points per game (20.79) to opposing quarterbacks. Carson Wentz is leading the NFL with 17 passing touchdowns (11 over the last three games) and is fourth with 1852 passing yards. The most popular option to stack with Wentz is Zach Ertz, who has five touchdowns on the season. Alshon Jeffery is a differentiation play from Ertz in GPP tournaments. This is a possible ceiling game for Jeffery against the sixth worst defense versus the pass.

Cincinnati Bengals Stack versus Indianapolis Colts

QB Andy Dalton $5,700 with WR A.J. Green $8,600 (Cash/GPP)

Alternative/Super Stacks: Tyler Kroft $3,000 (Cash/GPP) or RB Joe Mixon $4,700 (GPP Only)

Correlation Play: WR T.Y. Hilton $5,600 (GPP Only)

After running into a buzz saw last week in Pittsburgh, Andy Dalton will find much less resistance against the Colts, who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points per game (19.21) to opposing quarterbacks. The Colts have also struggled against wide receivers allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game (24.14). A.J. Green has a high floor/high ceiling in this matchup and stands out as the top wide receiver on the DraftKings main slate. Tyler Kroft has been a serviceable replacement to Tyler Eifert and is severely underpriced at $3,000. Kroft has at least four receptions in each of his past three games with a combined three touchdowns.

GPP STACKS

Here are some GPP stacks with multi-touchdown upside.

Washington Redskins Stack versus Dallas Cowboys

QB Kirk Cousins $6,400 with TE Jordan Reed $4,700 (GPP)

Alternate/Super Stacks: WR Josh Doctson $3,900 (GPP)

Correlation Play: Jason Witten $4,200 (GPP) or Ezekiel Elliott $9,200 (GPP)

After a slow start to the season. Kirk Cousins has improved with 11 touchdowns over the past four games. Jordan Reed finally looks healthy after seeing ten targets for eight receptions 64 yards and two touchdowns on Monday Night Football. Reed is underpriced and will be popular this week on DraftKings. Josh Doctson is seeing more playing time as he logged a career-best 54 offensive snaps last week. While the production hasn’t been there yet, Doctson has more talent than any other wide receiver on the roster and will soon take advantage of the opportunity.

Dallas Cowboys Stack at Washington Redskins

QB Dak Prescott $7,300 with TE Jason Witten $4,200 (GPP)

Alternative/Super Stacks: RB Ezekiel Elliott $9,200 (GPP) or WR Dez Bryant $7,700 (GPP)

Correlation Play: TE Jordan Reed $4,700 (GPP)

On the other side of the ball, Dak Prescott is one of the few quarterbacks hotter than Cousins. Prescott has been phenomenal with at least three touchdowns in each of his past four games. The Redskins defense has been solid on the outside but funnels production to the middle of the field. They are the second worst defense against tight ends allowing 11.7 fantasy points per game. Stacking Ezekiel Elliott with Prescott is a solid strategy again this week as it locks up most of the Cowboys touchdowns.

Seattle Seahawks Stack versus Houston Texans

QB Russell Wilson $6,500 with WR Doug Baldwin $6,900 (GPP)

Alternate/Super Stacks: TE Jimmy Graham $4,600 (GPP)

Russell Wilson is another quarterback that started the season slowly but has found his groove averaging 300 passing yards per game over his past four games. Doug Baldwin looks to be healthy as he finished with nine receptions for 92 yards and one touchdown last week against the Giants. The Texans defense will see some regression with the loss of J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus for the season.

DEFENSIVE STACKS (CASH/GPP Tournaments)

There is one defensive stack that stands out this weekend and can be used in GPP tournaments.

Buffalo Bills Stack versus Oakland Raiders

RB LeSean McCoy $8,700 with D/ST Buffalo Bills $2,900 (GPP)

Until Charles Clay returns, the Bills offense will continue to revolve around LeSean McCoy, who has at least 21 touches in each of his past four games. The Raiders are in a “let-down spot” as they will be traveling across the country for an early 1 pm EST start. Stacking McCoy with the Bills defense is a differentiation play best used in GPP tournaments. The Bengals and Eagles defense will be the more popular options this week on DraftKings according to FootballGuys Steve Buzzard’s ownership projections.
