thursday UPDATES
***The Falcons are hopeful Julio Jones will practice on Friday. It's too soon to rule Jones out for the week but the trend is worrisome. After struggling to finish last week's game, Jones needed an MRI early this week and has yet to be cleared to practice. I expect to see Jones return to a limited practice on Friday and be listed questionable. He'll likely be considered a game-time decision and play if the Falcons' optimism holds. In past week, Jones is most effective if ready to fully practice by the end of the week. In weeks where he's managed only limited practices, his performances have been inconsistent.
***There were conflicting reports on Jordan Reed's status today. As practice began, at least one observer noted that Reed seemed to be in more pain than he was yesterday. Later in the day, there were reports he'd regained most of the range of motion in his sore shoulder. Jay Gruden wouldn't commit to Reed's status after practice. Tomorrow will be important but the overall trend is more positive than last week.
***Mark Ingram did not practice today but there's a good chance the Saints were resting him with the plan to limit his reps on Friday and clear him to play. It's also possible the aggravation last week was significant and Ingram felt worse after yesterday's limited practice. The Saints are unlikely to say much about Ingram's status, making tomorrow's participation critical. Unless there's a full practice and reassuring media interview tomorrow, expect Tim Hightower to see a larger share of the workload this week.
midWEEK PRACTICE PARTICIPATION REPORT AND EARLY EXPECTATIONS
The Wednesday and Thursday practice participation reports are our first chance to see which players each NFL team are limiting in practice after the previous week's games. Players limited in mid-week practice aren't necessarily in danger of missing that week's game. But they all need to be watched closely.
