NOTE: This column is a living document. I'll be updating as needed after team press conferences, imaging reports, Monday Night Football injuries, etc. Major changes to the content will be noted in red. I'll also be retweeting any key pieces of news and my own reaction and analysis, so make sure you're following @JeneBramel and checking my timeline on Twitter throughout the week.
Scroll to the bottom of this article for a quick look table of the week's most pressing injury situations and a review of the skill position players on injured reserve / PUP / NFI.
INJURY ROUNDS
Lamar Miller | Ankle sprain | Day-to-Day
Miller suffered yet another late fourth quarter ankle injury. Despite Miller's insistence he'd be available this week, the mechanism on this one is more worrisome than the others. Although Miller's foot was in the air rather than planted, the tackle forced his ankle to rotate in a way consistent with a high ankle sprain. It wasn't a particularly violent mechanism but it's possible Miller misses practice midweek and is considered a game-time decision for the Texans' game on Saturday night.
Ladarius Green | Concussion | Week-to-Week
Green has a history of multiple week recoveries after a concussion. While no two concussions are alike, players with history of prolonged recovery are often treated more conservatively. The Steelers don't share information on injuries often, so practice participation will likely be our guide. If Green isn't back to a limited practice by Thursday, it's likely he'll sit this week.
Jared Goff | Concussion | Day-to-Day
Goff is also in the return to play protocol after a concussion on Sunday.
Austin Hooper | Knee sprain | Week-to-Week
There were no replays of Hooper's left knee injury, which occurred when an offensive lineman landed on his lower body while blocking. His immediate reaction and inability to bear weight are concerning signs for a higher grade injury. The team did not update Hooper's condition after the game. It's likely he'll have an MRI on Monday.
FOLLOWUP APPOINTMENTS
JULIO JONES | TOE SPRAIN | DAY-TO-DAY
It's now been two consecutive weeks of no practice for Jones for a toe injury the Falcons have been insisting is minor. After suggesting Jones would "push it" on Friday, he did not get on the practice field at all. While it's possible Jones was close to playing and the Falcons decided to remain cautious, there's reason for concern. In order to feel comfortable that Jones isn't at high risk of aggravation and limitation this week, I'd like to see him on the practice field multiple days this week.
A.J. GREEN | HAMSTRING STRAIN | WEEK-TO-WEEK
Green wasn't ready to return in Week 15. He had progressed well in rehab and been cleared to return to practice just three weeks into his recovery from a mid-grade hamstring strain. But three limited practices were not enough to be certain Green could play without high risk of aggravation. And Green had been clear he would not return until fully healthy. With the Bengals now eliminated from the playoffs, it's fair to wonder if Green will risk returning this season. During the television broadcast, it was implied that Green said he'd return this week. We'll see if that proves accurate. If Green is back practicing on Wednesday it's a clear sign he's planning to play.
MELVIN GORDON | HIP INJURY / MCL SPRAIN | WEEK-TO-WEEK
Gordon's hip injury was not as severe as it could have been but his knee sprain kept him from practicing last week. MCL sprains are tough for running backs to play through, however, and Gordon won't be assured of returning unless we see him return to practice by midweek.
Ryan Tannehill | ACL sprain / MCL sprain | 4-6 Weeks
Despite lots of discussion on Twitter this week about the severity of Tannehill's ACL sprain and appropriate excitement that his ACL injury didn't require immediate surgery, the associated MCL sprain means his knee joint is loose in multiple directions and therefore unstable. It'll take at least four weeks for either ligament sprain to heal -- and likely longer. The Dolphins will keep Tannehill on the active roster to leave the possibility for a playoff return open. But Tannehill's regular season is over.
Others of note: Donte Moncrief (hamstring), Theo Riddick (wrist), James Starks (concussion), Shane Vereen (concussion), and C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) continue to rehab injuries. I'll update with any news after Monday's press conferences and again on Wednesday's practice report. DeAngelo Williams (meniscus trim) had swelling during pregame on Sunday and was inactive.
