NOTE: This column is a living document. I'll be updating as needed after team press conferences, imaging reports, Monday Night Football injuries, etc. Major changes to the content will be noted in red. I'll also be retweeting any key pieces of news and my own reaction and analysis, so make sure you're following @JeneBramel and checking my timeline on Twitter throughout the week.
Scroll to the bottom of this article for a quick look table of the week's most pressing injury situations and a review of the skill position players on injured reserve / PUP / NFI.
INJURY ROUNDS
This column was refreshingly and thankfully light last week. Though there were multiple long-term injuries to offensive lineman -- Kyle Long (CHI -- high grade high ankle sprain), Jake Long (MIN -- Achilles), Branden Albert (MIA - dislocated wrist), T.J. Lang (GB -- ankle) -- it was another quiet week for the rest of the offensive huddle.
Jordan Howard | Ankle Injury | Awaiting Information
Howard limped off the field after what looked to be a right foot or ankle injury. The lone television angle showed Howard in an awkward position as he was tackled on his final carry but no obvious mechanism of injury. He was favoring his right leg on a play action on the following play and didn't return. John Fox told reporters after the game that Howard had suffered an ankle or Achilles injury. Howard told reporters he had "tightness" and wasn't worried about the injury. I'll take a closer look on the All-22 views later this week. Unless this proves to be a season-ending injury, the Bears aren't likely to provide much more information.
Larry Fitzgerald | Knee injury | Awaiting Information
Fitzgerald is reportedly scheduled for an MRI on his sore knee on Monday. Already fighting knee issues, Fitzgerald took multiple tough hits. A San Francisco defensive back told reporters Fitzgerald told him he was worried that he'd torn something. That's not a lot to go on obviously. I'll be following reports on Monday and hoping for positive news on Fitzgerald's imaging studies.
Lamar Miller | Shoulder / Ankle injury | Day-to-Day
Miller left the game in the first half with what was reportedly a minor ankle injury. After returning, he was seen on the sideline being evaluated with a likely aggravation of the shoulder injury that's plagued him for a couple of weeks. Miller finished the game but it looks like he could be limited for a few plays with his shoulder injury in future weeks.
FOLLOWUP APPOINTMENTS
There's not much to note on the players in this section this week. We're left to wait for player or team updates and to see what the midweek practice participation notes say.
Jacquizz Rodgers | Foot sprain | Week-to-Week
Rodgers reportedly was cleared to come out of the walking boot this week but has yet to practice. There's a chance he could return this week but he'll likely need at least one more week of rehab.
Tevin Coleman | Hamstring strain | Week-to-Week
Coleman hasn't practiced in three weeks. Running backs will usually need a week of limited practice to recondition before being cleared for a full return. If the Falcons take this approach, Coleman's earliest return would be Week 12. If Coleman returns to a full practice by Thursday, it'll be a clear sign Atlanta plans to use him this week.
Thomas Rawls | Fibula fracture | Day-to-Day
Rawls fully practiced last Friday and Pete Carroll has said that the Seahawks have been targeting this week for his return. Christine Michael played through a late week hamstring strain and C.J. Prosise is carving out a larger role in the offense, so it's unlikely Rawls will immediately see a significant number of touches.
Jeremy Maclin | Groin strain | Week-to-Week
Maclin did not practice last week after aggravating a groin strain in Week 9. We'll find out early this week whether last week's absence was mostly precautionary or evidence that Maclin has a higher grade injury.
Travis Benjamin | PCL sprain | Week-to-Week
The Chargers chose to hold Benjamin out of practice last week and their Week 10 game after he experienced more soreness in his sprained knee in Week 9. Benjamin has been told surgery isn't indicated and will have the team's Week 11 bye to continue to rehab and recover.
DeSean Jackson | Rotator cuff strain | Week-to-Week
Jackson had been playing through pain for some time but was not able to play last week. Most reports suggest Jackson will need more than one week to rehab. As we saw with Eric Decker earlier in the year, rehabbing borderline cuff strains is often unsuccessful. The schedule will complicate the decision-making process here. Washington is home on Sunday night this week and then has a quick turnaround to play in Dallas on Thanksgiving in Week 13.
Will Fuller | Knee injury | Day-to-Day
Fuller was inactive last week. Three limited practice and reports that Fuller was a game-time decision reassure about his potential to return in Week 11. The Texans play on Monday night this week, which will give Fuller an extra day to rehab.
