Beyond the Stats - Vol. 41

Updated 10/29 by Jeff Haseley, Exclusive for Footballguys.com

What a difference a year makes. Take a look at some astounding differences between 2008 to 2009. What positive statistic does Jason Campbell have over the likes of Matt Ryan, Matt Schaub, Philip Rivers and Tom Brady? Don't look now, but here comes Shonn Greene and Sidney Rice. Who are the three W's and why should you care? Which teams are the best in the first half and second half? Find out that and more in this week's edition of Beyond the Stats.

How bad is it for Jake Delhomme?

  • Jake is throwing an INT every 13.6 pass attempts. His division rival Drew Brees is throwing a TD every 14.0 pass attempts.
  • He has tossed 9 of his 13 INTs in the second half this year
  • In three home games this year, Jake has 1 TD and 8 INTs. Keep in mind the Panthers were 8-0 at home last year.
  • Delhomme has just four TD passes this year - all four have gone to TEs. Two each to Dante Rosario and Jeff King.

TD passes = high yards per attempt?

All 13 QBs with double-digit TD passes so far have a YPA of 7.0 or higher - except Jay Cutler, who is barely under the bar at 6.9 YPA

Which QB doesn't belong?

These QBs (in order) are the Top 10 QBs in first down percentage. Also worth noting, each QB in the list above has a QB rating of 90.0 or higher, with the exception of Jason Campbell.

  • Peyton Manning
  • Ben Roethlisberger
  • Joe Flacco
  • Drew Brees
  • Aaron Rodgers
  • Jason Campbell
  • Matt Ryan
  • Matt Schaub
  • Philip Rivers
  • Tom Brady

Not exactly like last year

Warner has only two passes of 40 yards or more and one of them came last week. Last year he had 12 passes of 40+ yards.

Not exactly like last year II

Ben Roethlisberger has eight passes of 40 yards or more this year and none in the first two weeks. He had seven all of last year.

Not exactly like Last year III

Jay Cutler was sacked only 11 times last year. This year he already has been sacked 11 times.

How good is Ahmad Bradshaw?

In 80 carries, Bradshaw is rushing for a first down 31.3% of the time. Other leaders in rushing first down % include...
