Week 5: at Baltimore Ravens
All QB vs BAL
Mark and Joe say: Good matchup. It's hard to believe it, but Josh McCown (32/41 for 356 yards passing, two TDs and zero interceptions thrown last week; 65/98 for 746 yards passing, four TDs and one interception thrown over three games played this season), Travis Benjamin (10 targets for 6/79/0 receiving vs. San Diego; 27 targets for 16/328/4 receiving this year), and Gary Barnidge (six for 6/75/1 last week; 22 for 16/235/2 to date) are teaming up to create a credible threat to pass the football in Cleveland this season, friends. Andrew Hawkins (19 for 10/112/0 this season) and Brian Hartline (16 for 8/123/0) are supplying some juice as second- and third- wide receivers as well.
The Ravens held Mike Vick and company to 19/26 for 96 net passing yards, one TD and zero interceptions thrown (with four sacks for -28 yards) during Week Four. Two Weeks ago, Andy Dalton went off on the Ravens for 20/32 for 383 net yards passing, three TDs and one interception thrown (with two sacks taken for -11 yards). So far this year, the Ravens average 242.2 net passing yards allowed per game (16th in the NFL) with seven passing scores given up vs. three interceptions (tied for 13th in the league) and 11 sacks (tied-sixth) generated. This is a strong-rushing unit that has a suspect secondary - the low yards allowed last week had more to do with Vick's declining skills than it did with a sudden resurgence by Baltimore in this phase of the game.
This is a good matchup for a surprisingly-effective passing attack.
