Week 7: at Cincinnati Bengals
All QB vs CIN
Mark and Joe say: Good matchup. Word has come down from the Browns coaching staff that Cody Kessler will stay in the saddle for the foreseeable future - he threw 26/41 for 336 yards passing, two TDs and zero interceptions at Tennessee last weekend, with six sacks taken for -36 yards. He's actually done a good job protecting the football with four passing scores and just one interception thrown so far this year (80/122 for 865 yards, four TDs and one interception over four appearances). With the team sitting at 0-6 they might as well find out what they've got in Kessler. Over the four games he's played, Kessler has targeted Terrelle Pryor the most (41 for 27/313/3 receiving), followed by Gary Barnidge (26 for 20/258/0), Ricardo Louis (23 for 13/146/0) and Andrew Hawkins (18 for 12/146/1).
The Bengals got blasted for 29/35 yielding 358 net yards passing, three TDs and zero interceptions while sacking Tom Brady three times for -18 yards last weekend. Two weeks ago the Cincinnati pass defense allowed 18/24 for 222 net yards passing, one TD and zero interceptions to Dak Prescott - they are heading in the wrong direction in this phase of the game lately. Over the past three weeks, Cincinnati has averaged 21.7 fantasy points allowed per game to opposing quarterbacks (12th-most in the NFL); and 17.8 fantasy points per game allowed to wide receivers (fifth-least); with 10.7 fantasy points given up per game to tight ends (fourth-most).
This looks like a decent matchup for Kessler and Barnidge - advantage, Cleveland.
