Week 7: at Detroit Lions
All RB vs DET
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. Matt Jones beat up on a quality Philadelphia defense last weekend, posting 16/135/1 rushing during the game - his side kick Chris Thompson had 9/37/0 rushing and three targets for 3/29/0 receiving, while reserve back Rob Kelley also got in the act with 5/59/0 rushing - all told, Washington ground out 33/230/1 against the Eagles. So far this season Jones is averaging a healthy 4.9 yards per carry with 83/499/3 rushing and eight targets for 8/73/0 receiving, while Thompson has handled 26/120/1 (4.6 yards per carry) with 19 targets for 15/144/1 receiving. This two are very effective in their specific roles.
Detroit's rush defense allowed just 22/76/1 to the Rams' stable of backs last week, after the Eagles had 21/116/0 rushing at Detroit two games ago. The TD allowed last week was the first rushing score the Lions have surrendered over six games played - they rank 21st in the NFL averaging 108.3 rushing yards allowed per contest. From Week Four to Week Six of regular season (the last three weeks), Detroit averages 15.4 fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs per game (11th-least in the NFL).
Jones and Thompson have a tough matchup ahead of them this week. Also, the passing matchup is favorable so we may see a lot of balls in the air in this game at Ford Field.
