RB George Winn - Free Agent
|5-11, 218||Born: 11-10-1990||College: Cincinnati||Drafted: ---|
2015 Week 7 vs MIN (1 / 0 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Winn was signed off the practice squad just under a week ago. He was on the field just three times on offense, spending most of his time on special teams. He was stuffed on his one rush attempt, a second down play on the one-yard line as the Lions tried--and failed--to score in four downs.
2014 Week 5 vs BUF (11 / 48 / 0 rush, 2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Winn worked behind Reggie Bush in the Joique Bell role in the first half. Bell missed the game against Buffalo due to a concussion. Winn consistently ran straight ahead between the tackles with two hands on the ball. Two well-blocked carries led to sizeable gains for Winn, most of his 48 yards on the ground for the game. As the game progressed, Winn's play fell off. Without well-defined creases, Winn was stuffed on a handful of carries in the second half, including a crucial third-and-short with eight minutes to play in a tie game. In the passing game, Winn struggled. After a contested target, Winn outright dropped a third down target with room to run and in field goal range. Detroit ultimately missed a long field goal on that drive.
2014 Week 6 vs MIN (5 / 16 / 0 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
With Joique Bell back in the lineup and Theo Riddick heavily-involved as a pass-catcher, George Winn was relegated to spot touches in relief of Bell as an interior runner. On his lone carry of note, Winn plowed ahead to convert fourth-and-one in the red zone in the fourth quarter. With the game still in doubt at 10-0, Winn's conversion ultimately led to the touchdown to ice the road victory in Minnesota. Winn was clearly behind Bell and Riddick on the depth chart, requiring a myriad of injuries for him to see significant work like he did in Week 5.
2014 Week 8 vs ATL (1 / 2 / 0 rush, 1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Winn saw little playing time even with Reggie Bush out of the lineup as Joique Bell's primary backup between the tackles. Winn is a role player that has shown little this season outside of gaining yards with well-defined holes and a full head of steam.
