Quick fantasy outlook: After signing the richest defensive contract in NFL history, Mario Williams got off to a very slow start in Buffalo. He posted 3.5 sacks in the first 7 games but was mostly ineffective and took much of the blame for the defenses struggles. During the team's bye week, however, he had surgery on his wrist and seemed to become a different player from that point forward. Williams posted 7 sacks in his last 9 games and started to look like the dominant player everyone was expecting to see. There is some concern about him in Buffalo this year because new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine will be bringing over the hybrid front from the Jets. If Williams winds up playing 3-4 OLB, he should still be an effective fantasy player as he showed during his last half season in Houston. Look for him to possibly play a role similar to what Terrell Suggs has done in Baltimore, which may limit his sacks but also result in more tackles. The Bills have rebuilt their linebacking group during the offseason, but there is quite a bit of youth there so some struggles are to be expected. The secondary also could struggle if Leodis McKelvin doesn't prove to be an effective #2 CB. In any event, Williams should remain a top-10 fantasy DE in what is becoming a very shallow position.
