Week 3: at Arizona Cardinals

All WR vs ARI

FBG says: Neutral matchup. Mitchell Trubisky helped pull off the Bears' first win of the season last week, but he in no way looked good during that feat. Trubisky threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns, but he added on a pair of interceptions along with what should have been a third pick in the end zone if not for the cornerback dropping the ball. Trubisky still lacks confidence in his ability to press downfield, as shown by his 5.4 yards per attempt and a long completion of only 14 yards last week. Trubisky has constantly missed plenty of opportunities with of wide open receivers due to his reluctance to pull the trigger on deeper routes. Taylor Gabriel brings elite speed to this offense, but it is not being captured with Trubisky under center. Allen Robinson also has immense playmaking ability but is being made into more of a possession receiver as displayed last week with 10 receptions on 14 targets for only 83 yards. Nonetheless, Robinson is the clear top option in this offense with 21 targets through the first two games. Trey Burton bounced back from a let-down Week 1 as he found the end zone from three yards out, but that was the extent of his productivity outside of a few short receptions. The Bears will face a Cardinals passing defense that allowed Jared Goff to move down the field downfield at will last week with half of his completions going for 10 or more yards on his way to 354 passing yards and a touchdown. The defensive line did manage to apply some pressure with improved play from Benson Mayowa (2 sacks), but Chandler Jones will need to step up to his potential on the opposite side as he has not started strong this season. The Cardinals safeties have also underwhelmed as Antoine Bethea has had a mediocre start to his 13th season. Expect cornerback Jamar Taylor to be targeted heavily this week. With Patrick Peterson locking down the other side with solid play, Taylor has looked terrible thus far and will be a ripe matchup for the likes of Allen Robinson (four-inch height advantage) to exploit. However, with Robinson assuming the status of the Bears' clear top option, expect Peterson to wander in his direction more often than not.
