Summary

Wake has been a tough player to figure out. He is one of the best pass rushers in the league, but will often go long stretches without getting to the QB or making much of an impact in run support. The addition of Ndamukong Suh last year was expected to free him up more than ever, but he got off to a slow start with just 1 assisted tackle over the first 4 games. He exploded for 7 sacks over his next 3 games, but unfortunately suffered a torn Achilles and saw his season come to an early end. At 34 year of age, it's reasonable to think he won't be the same after an injury that severe, but early reports this offseason have been positive and the team signed him to a 2-year extension. Given the scarcity at the position, Wake should be considered a DE2 with upside in big-play scoring systems. (August 7)

Dolphins | Cameron Wake fine with current role (Sat Aug 27, 10:23 AM) - Miami Dolphins DE Cameron Wake (Achilles') said he is fine with being used as a pass-rush specialist at this point because he is still not completely recovered from his Achilles' tendon injury.

Our View: He's only nine months removed from his Achilles' injury, so a limited role has to be the best remedy. Wake may not be back to his old form until much later in the season.

Dolphins | Three Miami linemen expected to play (Thu Aug 18, 03:16 PM) - Miami Dolphins DE Mario Williams, DE Cameron Wake and DT Ndamukong Suh are expected to play in the preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys Friday, Aug. 19. All three players did not play in the first preseason game.

Our View: This should be a fascinating test for the Miami defense. On paper, that is a potent combination but they are going against the best offensive line in the league. Get your popcorn ready, 'cause it's gonna be a show.
