Week 11: at New Orleans Saints
FBG says: Great matchup. Carson Wentz has been tremendous this season after recovering from a knee injury. Even though the team is off to a poor start at 4-5, Wentz is completing 71% of his passes and has thrown for 275 yards or more in each of his last six games. This is primarily due to necessity as the Eagles have struggled defensively and running the ball this season. Zach Ertz has been the best tight end in football this season as he leads the position in receptions with the next closest tight end having 18 catches fewer than Ertz. Ertz also has the most yards of any tight end and is one of the MVPs of this team. The team did add Golden Tate who did struggle in his first game as an Eagles receiver but made an impact allowing Nelson Agholor to run deeper routes than he previously had and it paid off with the receiver connecting with Wentz for a 51-yard reception. This is a big game for the Eagles passing game in which they need to come out and take control of this game. The Saints secondary is one that showed some life last week shutting down the Bengals defense by holding Andy Dalton to just 159 passing yards. While it is hard to get excited about one performance based on how terrible this secondary has been, it appeared that the addition of Eli Apple did help last week as the defense lived up to the names on the back of the jersey. This is a defense that has two former first-round picks at corner in Marshon Lattimore and Eli Apple and while Apple has struggled this season did look more comfortable last week and should continue to grow in a familiar environment which is a huge plus as it has always been mental for the former top 10 pick. Even though there is a chance for this defense to continue to improve, they are still a team that has allowed the second most passing yards per game and are tied for third for the most passing touchdowns allowed per game.

Latest NewsEagles | Will Tye signed by Eagles (Tue Nov 13, 04:56 PM) - Free-agent TE Will Tye (Giants) was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad Tuesday, Nov. 13. TE Billy Brown was released from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Our View: Tye had 90 catches combined in two years (2015, 2016) with the Giants but he's failed to duplicate that type of performance since then. Last year for the Jets, Tye had only four catches for 38 yards (and spent most of the season on the Patriots practice squad). He gets a spot on the Eagles practice squad and we'll see if he can crack another 53-man roster again.
