Week 14: vs Houston Texans

All QB vs HOU

Mark and Joe say: Great matchup. Andrew Luck has won nine consecutive starts at home against division opponents, including a 3-0 mark against Houston during that time span. Indianapolis lost at Houston in Week Six (23-26), but Luck scored twice with 21/32 for 252 yards passing, one TD and one interception thrown, with three sacks taken for -21 yards, while he added 7/53/1 rushing to the team effort. Chester Rogers led the team in receiving with four targets for 4/63/0 receiving, followed by Jack Doyle (four for 4/53/1), T.Y. Hilton (nine for 3/49/0), and Eric Swoope (three for 2/42/0). Right now, the Texans, the Titans and the Colts are tied for the lead in the AFC South at 6-6 - this is an key game for almost everyone in the division (except the Jaguars). Andrew Luck and company just destroyed a woefully inept Jets' team on Monday Night Football (22/28 for 278 yards passing, four TDs and zero interceptions thrown, with one sack taken for -7 yards). Dwayne Allen had a smorgasbord of TDs in the game (four targets for 4/72/3 receiving) while Donte Moncrief hauled in one (six for 4/26/1) and Jack Doyle narrowly missed scoring as well (four for 4/30/0). Oh, and T.Y. Hilton saw 10 targets for 9/146/0 receiving to lead Indianapolis in receiving last Monday. It's all good for the Colts coming into Week 14. The Texans lost in Green Bay last weekend, allowing 20/30 for 200 net yards passing, two TDs and zero interceptions with one sack for -9 yards. Two games ago Philip Rivers threw 22/30 for 235 net yards passing, three TDs and one interceptions at Houston (with one sack taken for -7 yards). As you can see, Houston is giving up a lot of TDs in this phase of the game lately - from Week 10 to Week 13 of the 2016 season (over the last four weeks, but includes 10 teams on bye during that time span - each team has at least three games played in the last four weeks), Houston has averaged 22.5 fantasy points allowed per game to opposing quarterbacks (ninth-most in the NFL); and 25.9 fantasy points per game allowed to wide receivers (12th-most); with 6.5 fantasy points given up per game to tight ends (13th-least). This is a mediocre pass defense entering Week 14. Advantage, Indianapolis.

2016 Week 12 vs PIT (22 / 36 / 205 / 1 / 2 pass, 3 / 6 / 0 rush)

Scott Tolzien did not play well against the Steelers but received little help from his supporting cast. Tolzien missed a couple of throws badly but played well and avoided costly mistakes while the game was within reach. Hilton, Moncrief and Dorsett were each guilty of a costly drop. Hilton and Dorsett each dropped a touchdown. Moncrief dropped what would have been a 20 yard reception and lastly Frank Gore uncharacteristically gave up a sack in pass protection. The Colts only touchdown came after a long kickoff return and a fake punt pass play that netted 35 yards Tolzien capped the possession with a nice throw to Moncrief where only he could catch the pass for a 5 yard touchdown. The offense was unable to finish other drives with points despite plenty of chances. The Colts were stuffed on 4 consecutive plays from inside Pittsburgh's 5 yard line. Tolzien was brought down at the 1 yard line off of bootleg play action on 3rd down and threw well off the mark to Chester Rogers on 4th down. On a later possession the Colts were again stuffed inside the Steelers 5 yard line. After 3 failed run plays Tolzien targeted Dorsett who dropped what would have been a contested catch. The following possession Tolzien took a deep shot to Dorsett who failed to make a play on the ball and the pass was intercepted by Mike Mitchell. Tolzien was intercepted by William Gay who jumped in front of Moncrief running down the seam.
