Recent Game Summaries

2018 Week 5 vs NYJ (6 / 5 / 105 / 1 rec - 19 points, $6500)

Thomas hauled in his first target with a strong catch on an out route late in the 2nd quarter that picked up a first down on 2nd and long. He followed it up with a beautiful reception on a corner route from a 3WR bunch formation on the next play, deftly securing an over-the shoulder pass between two defenders for a big gain. Thomas hauled in a short slant route at the end of the 1st half, and was overthrown on a deep ball on 3rd and long on the next play. Thomas hauled in a deep comeback route for a nice gain up the left sideline on Denver's first offensive drive of the 2nd half. Thomas saved his fantasy day with a big 42 yard touchdown catch, lining up wide right and beating single man coverage down the right sideline. He secured the pass with an off balance fingertip catch and managed to stumble into the end zone. Keenum targeted Thomas on the ensuing two-point attempt but couldn't hit the receiver on a crossing route in the end zone. Thomas was out-targeted by Sanders 14-6.

2018 Week 4 vs KC (7 / 4 / 24 / 0 rec - 4.4 points, $6500)

Thomas tied with Sanders and Heuerman for the most targets(7), but only managed 24 yards total. He lined up in the slot and had a nifty catch to convert 3rd and 6 at the end of the 1st quarter. Thomas made a really nice effort play to convert 4th and short at the end of the 1st half, but got stonewalled behind the line of scrimmage on the next play. Thomas hauled in a curl route down the left sideline on the final drive game, keeping the chains moving. DT got wide open down the right sideline with seconds left in the game, but Keenum threw the sure game-winning touchdown over his head.

2018 Week 3 vs BAL (5 / 5 / 63 / 0 rec - 8.8 points, $6700)

Thomas didn't put up a big fantasy day, but he did look much sharper than he did in week 2. He lined up wide left and hauled in a curl route for short gain to start his day late in the 1st quarter. Thomas hauled in an out route in the 2nd quarter that missed converting 3rd and 7 by mere inches. Thomas hauled in a deep post for a huge gain in the 3rd quarter, but the play was negated by a holding penalty. DT made a beautiful adjustment on a back shoulder throw later in the drive, hauling in the pass over his defender down the right sideline for a 22 yard gain. Thomas drew a big PI flag in the 4th quarter the kept a Denver drive alive, then caught a 9 yard curl route on the next play. Keenum hit Thomas one last time late in the 4th quarter on a skinny post that took Denver inside the Baltimore red zone. Thomas finished with 5 targets, trailing Sanders(8) and Booker(7).

2018 Week 2 vs OAK (11 / 5 / 18 / 0 rec - 4.3 points, $7000)

Thomas dominated the target totals with 11, but he was completely ineffective with them. Thomas sniffed paydirt when he caught a slant route in the Raiders end zone in the 3rd quarter, but he was brought down at the 1 yard line. Thomas had a bad drop on an open curl route late in the third, then another brutal drop during the final two minute drill of the game. His completions were quick slants or bubble screens that just went no where. Thomas was targeted once down the right sideline on a deep ball in the 3rd, but Keenum overthrew him.

2018 Week 1 vs SEA (10 / 6 / 63 / 1 rec - 15.3 points, $7000)

Keenum looked to Thomas plenty, but the two struggled to connect on anything other than short curls and slants. Thomas had a bit of a rough start in the first half, letting a couple of passes clang off his hands and getting called for a holding penalty. DT had a great catch and run late in the first that picked up 23 yards and moved the Broncos out of their own end zone. Denver was down on their own 2 yard line until Thomas caught the ball at the line of scrimmage and wove his way through defenders for the pickup. Thomas saved his fantasy day with a late touchdown in the 4th quarter. Denver drove down to the Seattle 4 yard line and Thomas made an amazing toe-tapping effort as he fell out of bounds on a quick out route from Keenum. Thomas finished with 10 targets to Sanders' 11, but Sanders had a much better day. Still, the offense clearly runs through the top two receivers.

Our View: Thomas had a long score, but it was meaningless in the outcome of the game. He's a boom/bust WR3/Flex against the Rams next week.
