Week 5: at Philadelphia Eagles
All TE vs PHI
Mark and Joe say: Great matchup. Drew Brees came back with a bang against the Cowboys, engineering a fourth-quarter/OT comeback that finished with an 80-yard TD strike to C.J. Spiller (5/99/1 receiving for Spiller on the night). All told, Brees threw 33/41 for 359 yards passing, two TDs and zero interceptions during his return to game action - much of it short and then moved down field for yards-after-the-catch by his cadre of receivers. Willie Snead (six targets for 6/96/0 receiving) continues to cement his hold on the #2 wideout job across from Brandin Cooks (eight targets for 4/25/0). Ben Watson (three for 3/30/0), Marques Colston (five for 4/19/0) and Josh Hill (two for 2/11/1) are also in the mix for Brees.
The Eagles' pass D is ranked 25th in the NFL averaging 276.5 net passing yards allowed per game, with six passing scores given up vs. five interceptions (tied for sixth in the NFL) and six sacks (tied-23rd) generated to date. Last week, they gave up 31/46 for 290 net yards passing, one TD and zero interceptions thrown to Kirk Cousins and company, which is right on their usual sub-par pace as a pass D.
Advantage, Brees and the Saints. Also the rushing matchup is tougher-than-usual here, so Brees may need to put the ball up a good bit to win this one.
