Eagles | Tim Tebow should make team (Thu Aug 20, 07:43 PM) - Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Tim Tebow continues to impress head coach Chip Kelly, and Tebow is expected to earn a spot on the active roster if he doesn't make any glaring errors over the rest of the preseason, according to a team source. Kelly has been impressed with Tebow's running ability and his improvement throwing the football. Tebow can become a valuable weapon with the new two-point rule and in short-yardage situations. QB Matt Barkley is available for trade. Tebow was 6-for-12 for 69 yards in the team's first preseason game last weekend, and he had four carries for 15 yards and a touchdown.

Our View: Chip Kelly is definitely running the show here and it's a good bet he has something in mind for Tebow. It likely spells doom for Matt Barkley who has been less than impressive. There's no point in fostering Tebow though as it will take multiple injuries to get him under center for more than gimmick plays. Yes, Sam Bradford is an injury risk but it's unlikey Tebow would hop over Mark Sanchez, who is more polished and played well in Kelly's system last season.
