Week 7: at Cleveland Browns
All QB vs CLE
FBG says: Great matchup. The Titans passing offense was much improved with Marcus Mariota back last week. While Mariota was playing with extremely limited mobility, he still managed to exceed 300 passing yards for the first time this season. Mariota has typically relied on his mobility to fuel playmaking, but he did a good job this past week staying in the pocket and making plays when the team needed them. Mariota has not had the best of years so far with as many touchdowns as he has interceptions, but this week is a matchup that should help him bounce back. Rishard Matthews leads the Titans in both receiving yards and targets, however, he has been more of a short field threat this season. Eric Decker finally got involved in the offense last week as he was Mariota's favorite target, but he has yet to score a touchdown--an oddity for a player formerly regarded as a red zone specialist. Delanie Walker has had a very disappointing season thus far, despite being targeted only three fewer times than Rishard Matthews. Demarco Murray also has been more involved in the passing attack lately, with nine targets in his past two games after being targeted only eight times in his first four games.
The Browns pass defense has been routinely picked apart this season. While their passing yards allowed has been cushioned due to the game scripts, the Browns have allowed a 111.0 quarterback rating (32nd), 14 passing touchdowns (T-32nd), and a 71.6% completion rate (31st). Veteran cornerback Jason McCourty has actually been one of the top cornerbacks in the league, tied for third in passes defended (9) and three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Where the Browns have really struggled is at safety, as they have been unable to cover anyone deep downfield. McCourty typically lines up on the right side, but Titans receivers are moved all over--so he should cover both Rishard Matthews and Eric Decker at times. Matthews has been more of a short yardage threat this season, so look for someone like Eric Decker, Delanie Walker, or even Taywan Taylor to be a threat downfield against these weak Browns safeties. Also, keep in mind that the Browns have allowed the league's most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends--a great boost for Delanie Walker.
