Week 4: at Houston Texans

All TE vs HOU

Mark and Joe say: Bad matchup. Marcus Mariota didn't fare well without Delanie Walker in the lineup vs. Oakland (hamstring injury) last Sunday, posting 17/33 for 214 yards passing, zero TDs and two interceptions thrown, with one sack taken for -2 yards. Jace Amaro (four targets for 3/59/0 receiving) did an O.K. job standing in for Walker, and led the team in receiving last week, while Tajae Sharpe (seven for 3/48/0), Rishard Matthews (eight for 3/32/0) and Demarco Murray (five targets for 5/41/0) did what they could to keep the offense moving. The team does expect Walker to start practicing again on Thursday - stay tuned to Footballguys.com's Players in the News as the weekend approaches to see if Walker can keep practicing. The Texans' pass defense is first in the NFL averaging 151.3 net passing yards allowed per game, with one TD allowed and one interception generated so far this year - they are tied for third in the NFL with 10 sacks to their credit. Last week, Jacoby Brissett managed just 11/19 for 97 yards passing, zero TDs or interceptions thrown, with one sack taken for -6 yards. Over the first three weeks of the season, Houston has averaged 13.5 fantasy points allowed per game to opposing quarterbacks (fourth-least in the NFL); and 15.4 fantasy points per game allowed to wide receivers (fourth-least); with 2.1 fantasy points given up per game to tight ends (fourth-least). This is a top five, shut-down type of pass defense entering Week Four, but there was some bad news this week - unfortunately, J.J. Watt has re-injured his back and will be out for an extended period of time, perhaps for the season, and certainly for this game. This obviously degrades the Texans' defense in both phases of the game. Even though the Texans will be juggling their defensive line this week, this is still a bad matchup for the banged-up Titans.
