Week 12: at San Francisco 49ers

All WR vs SF

FBG says: Bad matchup. Aaron Rodgers once again looks like one of the NFL's most dominant quarterbacks this season, posting the sixth-best adjusted yards per attempt mark in the NFL alongside an impressive 17-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Schematically, the offense may be different this season under Matt LaFleur, but Davante Adams remains the team's obvious number-one receiving option. Adams has made a seamless return to his role atop the Packers' depth chart after missing over a month due to a toe injury. In his two games since returning, Adams has been the target of one-third of Rodgers' pass attempts, tallying over twice as many targets, receptions, and receiving yards as any other player on the Packers during that time. He hasn't found the end zone yet this season, which will likely change sooner rather than later, as the team lacks a clear number-two receiving target. The Packers' offensive line is one of the league's best at keeping Aaron Rodgers clean in the pocket, but this strength in the trenches will be put to the test in Week 12 against an elite San Francisco pass-rush. The San Francisco 49ers field one of the league's strongest pass defenses this season, boasting a 10-to-11 touchdown-to-interception ratio on the season, to go along with a 4.3 adjusted yards per attempt allowed this season, which ranks 2nd in the NFL. The 49ers have allowed just one 300-yard passing day on the season, and it cleared the 300-yard-mark in the final minute of a 41-17 blowout thanks to a 66-yard touchdown reception by John Ross III. San Francisco's strength against the pass starts along the defensive line, where they field 4 players that rank in the top 42 of the NFL in sacks, with at least 5.0 sacks for each player. They also field one of the league's deepest groups of cornerbacks, led by Richard Sherman, who leads the team with three interceptions, which also ranks fifth in the NFL. Sherman is flanked by a bevy of talented cornerbacks, with K'Waun Williams and Emmanuel Moseley both shining while Ahkello Witherspoon sat out due to a foot sprain. Witherspoon returned in a limited role last week, but without getting a full week of practice in, the team was comfortable sticking with Moseley in the starting lineup in Week 11. Here in Week 12, the 49ers will have difficult decisions to make regarding who starts in their secondary, but these are good problems to have, as they are caused by an overabundance of coverage talent. A clash between Aaron Rodgers, one of the league's best quarterbacks, and the San Francisco 49ers, one of the league's best pass defenses, will be a must-see showdown on Sunday night, with the edge likely going to the defense in this matchup.
