Week 4: vs Carolina Panthers
All RB vs CAR
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. Doug Martin continues to be the lead horse in this running back stable, having handled 46/176/0 rushing with 3/22/0 receiving so far this season. Charles Sims (19/61/0 rushing with 7/78/1 receiving) is working in as the change-of-pace back and that's what the lead tandem for the Buccaneers looks like entering Week Four. The other backs on the roster have four carries combined between them.
The Panthers' starting DE Charles X. Johnson will not be able to play in Week Four (or many weeks after - he was sent to IR/Designated to Return on Tuesday) against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a hamstring injury, which will force Carolina to juggle their defensive front in practices and the game this week. The team did trade for Jared Allen this week, but he'll be learning the Panthers' system on the fly once he arrives from Chicago. Over the first three games, the Panthers average just 75.7 rushing yards allowed per game, fourth in the NFL, but they have handed out three rushing TDs so far. New Orleans posted 24/70/2 rushing at Carolina last week.
Advantage, Carolina even though they are on the road to their divisional rivals this weekend.
