Week 7: vs Washington Redskins
All RB vs WAS
Mark and Joe say: Neutral matchup. Zach Zenner provided at least a credible threat to run the football against the Rams, with 14/58/0 rushing and two targets for 2/19/0 receiving as the Lions managed to hold off the Rams 31-28 last weekend. Newly-signed Justin Forsett had little impact on the game (5/5/0 rushing with one target for zero receptions), and with Theo Riddick (ankle) and Dwayne Washington (ankle and foot injuries) sidelined, it was basically all up to Zenner. We'll see if any of the other backs can practice as the week goes along (stay tuned to Footballguys.com's Players in the News as the weekend approaches) but if things stay roughly the same as they were in Week Six, look for another heaping helping of Zenner against the visiting Washington defense.
Speaking of Washington, they defeated divisional opponent Philadelphia last weekend, holding the Eagles' backs to 21/94/0 rushing on the day. This, after limiting Baltimore to 19/118/0 two games ago - the Washington defense is moving in the right direction in this phase of the game. From Week Four to Week Six of regular season (the last three weeks), Washington averages 17.3 fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs per game (16th in the NFL). They are playing much better than their 28th-place ranking averaging 124 rushing yards allowed per game this year (with eight rushing scores given out). Washington has tightened up their defense during October, friends.
This looks like a neutral matchup for Zenner and company.
