Week 2: at Carolina Panthers
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. The Lions were balanced in their attack on the Giants in Week One, with 30 rushes attempted (for 76 yards and two TDs scored) vs. 32 passes put up by Matthew Stafford. Joique Bell led the rushing attack with 15/51/1 rushing and 1/5/0 receiving, while Reggie Bush posted 9/15/0 rushing with 6/49/0 receiving to his credit (56 total yards for Bell; 64 for Bush) - they are a dynamic tandem of running backs again this year.
The Panthers' rush D held starting running back Doug Martin to 9/9/0 rushing in Week One, and though they eventually allowed 17/102/0 to the Buccaneers, half of that total came on one 54-yard scamper by Jorvorskie Lane - otherwise, the Panthers basically shut down the Buccaneers' backs in Week One. Carolina's rush D is outstanding, ranking first in the NFL last year with just four rushing scores given out, and second in the league in average rush yards allowed per game during 2013.
This is a tough matchup for Bush and Bell.
