Recent Game Summaries
2018 Week 14 vs JAX (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Jonnu Smith suffered a season-ending knee injury early in this week's game.
2018 Week 13 vs NYJ (3 / 2 / 29 / 0 rec)
Jonnu Smith had a quiet day highlighted by continued effort displayed after the catch. Smith's first catch of the game wasn't until after halftime as he hauled in a reception near the line of scrimmage before powering downfield for an 11-yard gain. Smith would rack up more impressive yards after the catch on a screen pass late in the third quarter. He did drop a ball in the end zone to close out that drive, wasting his only red zone look of the day as Anthony Firkser ended with more receptions than Smith with an equal three targets each.
2018 Week 12 vs HOU (2 / 2 / 63 / 1 rec)
Jonnu Smith hauled in both of his targets, with one of those being the longest play of the night for the Titans. On the Titans' second drive of the game, Smith nabbed a routine short pass just three yards from the line of scrimmage, but he then proceeded to show spectacular acceleration for a player of his size to sprint down the middle of the field nearly 50 yards before he was even touched. Smith ran right through the attempted arm tackle of a Texans defensive back as his momentum carried him right into the end zone for an impressive 61-yard touchdown that came 100% from the effort of Smith.
2018 Week 11 vs IND (8 / 6 / 44 / 0 rec)
Jonnu Smith saw his increased usage in this Titans passing offense continue this week as he was targeted a team-leading eight times, hauling in six of them for 44 yards. Smith was a dink and dunk machine here as all six of his receptions came on very short routes of less than 10 yards. Regardless, the usage and number of routes ran in this game is encouraging for Smith's future, as he doubled his previous career-high of three receptions and has now amassed at least 30 receiving yards in three straight games.
2018 Week 10 vs NE (3 / 3 / 45 / 1 rec)
Smith was targeted just three times but hauled in all three of them with the first reception getting him into the end zone from the red zone for the second straight game. Smith did a nice job keeping an eye on his quarterback to roll to the right with Mariota as Smith got just enough separation to be wide open for the easy catch. Smith's next reception came as he was lined up wide right and ran a simple stop route, but used his big stature to shed the first tackler before turning upfield for over 20 more yards after the catch for a big 29-yard gain--the longest reception of the day for any Titans receiver.
2018 Week 9 vs DAL (2 / 2 / 33 / 1 rec)
Jonnu Smith managed to haul in both targets in this game as he found the end zone for the first time this season. His first reception came to start the second half as Smith was wide open in the middle of the field for Mariota to hit him with a 26-yard pass. On the following drive, Smith was the recipient of a masterful shovel pass from Marcus Mariota off the zone read, hauling in the catch through heavy traffic before powering his way into the end zone for the seven-yard score. Smith's day could have been even better had Mariota found him streaking down the field wide open in the first half, but Mariota missed the read and Smith's efforts fell short on that play.
2018 Week 3 vs JAX (2 / 1 / 9 / 0 rec)
Jonnu Smith finished with just two targets as the Titans continue to give looks to tight Luke Stocker. Despite the talent, Smith is not living up to what many would hope would be at least partially filling the shoes of Delanie Walker.
2018 Week 2 vs HOU (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Jonnu Smith was expected to take a step forward this week with the absence of Delanie Walker, but he was not involved in the Titans offense at all this week with zero targets. While part of this can be attributed to the lack of a passing offense overall with Blaine Gabbert under center, it was disappointing for Smith to see fellow tight end Luke Stocker see more targets (2) while Smith was not used at all despite running a few routes.
2018 Week 1 vs MIA (3 / 1 / 12 / 0 rec)
Jonnu Smith was targeted only three times in limited snaps, with two of those targets coming after the injury to Delanie Walker. Smith hauled in one target for 12 yards on a nice route across the middle. Smith will assume the role as a starter with Delanie Walker sidelined.
