Matt Schaub's very solid career in Houston came to a close this offseason as he was dealt to the Oakland Raiders. Schaub has 3 times surpassed the 4,000 yard mark as a quarterback and was a top ten fantasy quarterback in both 2009 and 2010. Schaub has struggled mightily with interceptions over the past two seasons, throwing 26 in his last 26 games. He lost his starting job midway through 2013 to Case Keenum and from that point it was pretty evident that his time in Houston was over. Schaub has spent his entire career in Houston with elite receiver Andre Johnson, now he'll head to Oakland where the best option in the passing game is James Jones. Schaub struggled mightily under pressure in 2013 and he'll be working in Oakland behind a reworked offensive line. Schaub has gotten off to a good start in camp and looks to have regained some of his lost confidence. (August 4)

Raiders | Waiting to name starting QB (Fri Aug 29, 08:09 PM) - Oakland Raiders QB Matt Schaub (elbow) is still recovering from an elbow injury. Head coach Dennis Allen said Friday, Aug. 29, that he still wants to see where Schaub is physically before making the final call on his Week 1 starting quarterback.

Our View: With Schaub banged up we could see rookie Derek Carr as the team's starter. Carr has a strong arm, but his game falls apart under pressure. We're not overly excited about any piece of the Raiders passing game.

Raiders | Matt Schaub to throw (Thu Aug 28, 03:41 PM) - Oakland Raiders QB Matt Schaub (elbow) did some light throwing Wednesday, Aug. 28. The team will have him throw again Monday, Sept. 1, to see where his arm is at.

Our View: Could Derek Carr end up starting the Week 1 game against the New York Jets? It's a good matchup given that the secondary is a mess but the front seven can bring pressure and Carr can struggle against that. If Schaub's elbow keeps hurting and Carr's ribs are OK we might see him under center. Neither of these two are anyone you want to depend on at this point. Schaub is ranked as QB3 and Carr a QB4, though Carr is the clear choice in terms of dynasty value.

Raiders | Derek Carr entrenched as backup (Wed Aug 27, 10:21 PM) - Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr appears firmly entrenched as the primary backup quarterback behind starter QB Matt Schaub (elbow), even though QB Matt McGloin has posted the best numbers of the preseason.

Raiders | Matt Schaub will be starter (Wed Aug 27, 10:20 PM) - Oakland Raiders QB Matt Schaub (elbow) will be the team's starting quarterback in Week 1 against the New York Jets assuming his elbow is better and he can get in the requisite practice time, head coach Dennis Allen reiterated Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Raiders | Matt Schaub still out (Tue Aug 26, 04:24 PM) - Oakland Raiders QB Matt Schaub (elbow) missed his third straight day of practice with elbow soreness Tuesday, Aug. 26, but head coach Dennis Allen doesn't think Schaub's injury is serious, and the team expects him to play in Week 1 against the New York Jets.

Our View: Schaub being replaced as the Raiders starter is still a matter of when, not if, unless he picks up his level of play from the preseason. He still looked like a quarterback with broken confidence.
