Week 8: at Cleveland Browns
All TE vs CLE
Mark and Joe say: Great matchup. With Geno Smith out due to a torn ACL, Ryan Fitzpatrick is back in as the Jets' starting quarterback. Last week, in relief of Smith, Fitzpatrick put up 9/14 for 120 yards passing, one TD and zero interceptions (he was sacked three times for -15 yards). Quincy Enunwa (four targets for 2/73/1 receiving) and Matt Forte (four for 4/54/1) led the team in receiving last weekend, but Robby Anderson (three for 3/41/0) and Brandon Marshall (eight for 3/39/0) were in the mix as well. We'll see if Fitzpatrick can get back to some of his 2015 magic in this contest.
The Browns' pass defense gave up 19/28 for 288 net yards passing, two TDs and zero interceptions to divisional rival Cincinnati last weekend, and only generated three sacks for -20 yards. Marcus Mariota roughed them up with 17/24 for 270 yards passing, three TDs and one interception thrown, with two sacks for -14 yards two weeks ago. On average, the Browns allow 285.7 net passing yards per game, with 18 passing scores given out vs. just six interceptions and 12 sacks generated so far (seventh- and 27th-ranked in the NFL, respectively). From Week Five to Week Seven of the 2016 season (over the last three weeks), Cleveland has averaged 29.5 fantasy points allowed per game to opposing quarterbacks (most in the NFL); and 29.1 fantasy points per game allowed to wide receivers (tied for seventh-most); with 16.3 fantasy points given up per game to tight ends (second in the league).
This is a great matchup for Fitzpatrick - we'll see if Good Fitzpatrick or Bad Fitzpatrick shows up on Sunday to try and take advantage of the circumstances.
