Week 2: vs Philadelphia Eagles

Mark and Joe say: Bad matchup. Indianapolis was dominated in the first half of the game, trailing 0-24 late in the second quarter, so the running game never really got on track at Denver. What little we saw of it looked eerily like last year's frustrating campaign - Trent Richardson averaged 3.3 yards per carry (6/20/0 rushing) though he did make some contributions as a receiver (3/31/0). Ahmad Bradshaw was more productive as a receiver (six targets for 5/70/0 receiving) than as a runner (3/15/0), and Andrew Luck ran in the only TD on the day (5/19/1). We'll see if Richardson and Bradshaw can do more running the football in Week Two, but we're not holding our breath. The Eagles' rush D held Jacksonville to 25/64/0 on the ground last week, despite Jacksonville's desire to nurse an early 17-0 lead at the half. The Eagles averaged 104.3 rushing yards allowed per game last season, good for 10th in the NFL, and gave up 12 rushing scores over 16 games played. They limited Le'Veon Bell to 9/23/0 rushing in the third preseason game, and held LeGarrette Blount to 7/32/0 on the ground - in all, Pittsburgh posted 17/58/0 rushing at Philadelphia in the third preseason game. This Eagles' defensive front looks for real entering the second game of the season. Not much happened in this phase of the game for Indianapolis last week, and this looks like a bad matchup for them on Monday Night Football.

Cardinals | Chris Rainey worked out (Mon Sep 8, 06:49 PM) - Free-agent RB Chris Rainey (Colts) worked out for the Arizona Cardinals Monday, Sept. 8.

Our View: The Colts are just updating an emergency list here. Rainey has good speed, but he lacks the size and determination to be a quality runner in the pros.
