Week 16: vs Baltimore Ravens
Mark and Joe say: Bad matchup. The Texans have now lost their top three quarterbacks for the season (Ryan Fitzpatrick, broken leg; Ryan Mallett, shoulder injury; Tom Savage, knee injury), leaving either Thad Lewis, a part-time starter for Buffalo last year, (115/189 for 1,296 yards passing, five TDs and four interceptions during his NFL career so far) or Case Keenum (137/253 for 1,760 yards passing, nine TDs and six interceptions thrown so far over eight appearances with the Texans during 2013) as the starting quarterback this week. Keenum was signed off the St. Louis practice squad (he was cut by Houston during training camp on the final cut-down day, but he has been in Houston, as noted above, and knows their offensive system). However, the upshot of all this is that the Ravens know that a journeyman quarterback is starting for Houston this week - they'll load up the box to slow down Arian Foster and Alfred Blue, and dare Keenum/Lewis to beat them.
Speaking of Foster and Blue, they led the Texans to 41/137/0 rushing in Indianapolis, with 26/99/0 rushing and 3/18/0 receiving by Foster and 8/26/0 rushing by Blue during the contest. They'll likely be handed the ball a lot this week, but it remains to be seen how well they'll run it with a stacked box to face.
The Ravens' rush D averages just 84.3 rushing yards allowed per game (third in the NFL), with a mere seven rushing scores given up to date. Jacksonville had 23/82/0 rushing at Baltimore last week, while Miami managed 16/63/0 two games ago.
This looks like a bad week to have Foster in your lineup.
