Week 12: vs Cincinnati Bengals
Mark and Joe say: Great matchup. The Texans watched Alfred Blue power them to a big afternoon running the football at Cleveland last week - Blue had 36/156/0 in his first crack at starting as an NFL running back, and Jonathan Grimes added 13/54/0 as the Houston bench filled in admirably for the missing Arian Foster (out due to a groin issue last week). All told, the Texans rushed for 54/213/0 at Cleveland last week. Foster's status for this week is unclear at mid-week - stay tuned to Footballguys.com's Players in the News for his practice status on Thursday and Friday - this situation is in flux due to his groin injury, but Blue showed he can shoulder the load for Houston if he has to do so again this week.
The Bengals' rush D held New Orleans' Mark Ingram and company to 25/76/0 rushing last week, but were torn apart for 52/170/3 rushing by Cleveland just two weeks ago. The return of Rey Maualuga (three solo tackles last week, two for a loss) may have helped strengthen the Cincinnati defensive front, but there is still work to be done in this phase of the game. Cincinnati is ranked 28th in the NFL averaging 136.2 rushing yards allowed per game, and they've given out the second-most rushing scores this year with 12 allowed.
This is a great matchup for the home-team Texans.
