Recent Game Summaries

2014 Week 2 vs TB (4 / 3 / 46 / 0 rec)

Pettis made a couple big plays in this game. With the emergence of Brian Quick and and addition of Kenny Britt, Pettis is the forgotten man. Yet he had 46 yards on 3 receptions, including the play of the game in the 4th quarter. As mentioned earlier, Austin Davis threw a deep ball to Pettis down the center of the field on 3rd down. Pettis leaped in the air and made the reception for a 26 yard first down, setting up the game-wining field goal. Prior to that, Pettis had dropped a ball on 3rd down, which caused the Rams to have to settle for a field goal. So his great catch on the final drive served as a redemption for him, and will probably keep him on the field in the future.

2014 Week 3 vs DAL (4 / 3 / 28 / 1 rec)

The addition of Britt cements Pettis into a very limited amount of playing time. He's not getting the number of snaps that he did last year, which is probably good for St. Louis. But as the number 3 wr, he's much more dangerous, as he's a very heady route runner, and can get open at important times. A great example of his smart play is on his TD. Davis was in trouble and rolled out to his left to escape pressure. Pettis found a hole in the defense waited, caught the ball, and sat down as he was catching it. A perfect example of a safety valve that a young QB needs. Pettis will never light up a fantasy scoreboard, but he can be a big weapon for his qb, as he was in this game.
