Week 6: vs Pittsburgh Steelers

All RB vs PIT

FBG says: Neutral matchup. Joe Mixon is excelling, if not producing eye-popping numbers while running behind a line that's slowly improving from awful to mediocre. Rookie center Billy Price remains out, and the right side of the line still has a ways to go. Still, the arrow is pointing up, thanks to Mixon's sheer talent level. Still playing around 220 pounds, Mixon runs with a forcefulness that belies his blazing foot-speed, and he doesn't go down easily. Now that he's routinely given both a rhythm in his game and a passing attack that keeps linebackers honest, Mixon is a weekly threat to erupt. His average line thus far - 4.53 yards per attempt and 90.7 per game - is a fair expectation from week to week. The Steelers continue to field one of the NFL's stingiest run defenses. Starting inside linebacker Vince Williams sat last Sunday with a hamstring injury, but the crew banded together to hold Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman to just 47 yards over 15 carries. Journeyman Jon Bostic has done a fine job all year next to Williams, and the safeties are well-versed in run support, so not a lot of lanes open up downfield. The best part of this group, though, is the explosive front line. Stephon Tuitt and Cameron Heyward are active and powerful, routinely tying up blockers up front, and 352-pound nose tackle Daniel McCullers is an asset on running downs. Big games do happen against this unit, but they haven't thus far in 2018. In general, it's rarely wise to expect much from lead backs in this matchup.
