Week 15: vs Arizona Cardinals

All TE vs ARI

FBG says: Tough matchup. Matt Ryan, who spent the first two months of the season as a fringe MVP candidate, has suffered a noticeably drop of late. After averaging 335 yards and 2.3 touchdowns a game over the first 9 weeks, he's dipped to 265 and 1.8 over the last four. It's not a volume thing, either. Ryan's yardage per attempt (7.1) has been way down as well, and he hasn't even looked like a good real-life passer over the last few weeks. Early in the season, Ryan was spreading the ball around to both new and old targets, attacking defenses from all directions. Now, he appears back to leaning heavily on Julio Jones. Jones is fantastic - and in the midst of the best season of his career - but Ryan is only a special fantasy quarterback when he's mixing things up. Last Sunday, only Jones (108 yards) and sluggish slot receiver Mohamed Sanu (54) topped 40, and it took the pair 19 targets to get what they did. Jones remains a fantasy gem, a matchup-proof dominator who's finally adding touchdowns to his resume (five over the last six weeks). Patrick Peterson will present a big test Sunday, though Jones is talented enough to win a number of routes in the matchup. Every other part of this attack is fading from relevance, though, and Ryan is no longer a shoo-in to produce week after week. In In the midst of a truly lost season, the Cardinals pass defense has served as the team's lone strength. Unable to move the ball on offense or slow down the run even a little bit, they've at least been able to neutralize most passing matchups. They've limited the likes of Kirk Cousins (just 233 yards on 34 attempts) and Aaron Rodgers (233 on 50), and held Patrick Mahomes to his lowest yardage total of the year (249) in Week 10. On the year, they're allowing just 228 yards to opposing quarterbacks. The pass rush has been surprisingly powerful, led by All-Pro Chandler Jones (12.0 sacks) and a variety of dynamic blitzers. The primary star, however, is still cornerback Patrick Peterson. The 28-year-old remains one of the league's premier cover men, and his Week 14 dominance of Kenny Golladay (4 targets, 5 yards) was a sight to behold. Outside receivers rarely find much room downfield against Peterson, funneling the ball elsewhere. All in all, this isn't a prohibitive matchup, but it's one that should give fantasy players pause. With most No. 1 wideouts wiped out of the game plan by Peterson, there's usually a low ceiling in play for opposing pass games.
