Week 17: vs Dallas Cowboys

Mark and Joe say: Neutral matchup. Robert Griffin III was sidelined due to his dislocated ankle the last time these teams met - Colt McCoy threw 25/30 for 299 yards, zero TDs and one interception thrown (with three sacks taken for -13 yards). Griffin is back in as the starter so looking back to Week Eight won't tell us much about this divisional grudge match. Last week, Griffin threw 16/23 for 220 yards, zero TDs and one interception (with two sacks taken for -15 yards), but his team got the 'W'. The 'W' inspired head coach Jay Gruden to explain he benched Griffin (after he returned from injury) earlier in the season because Gruden is looking for a quarterback that can lead the team to wins. 'That is the No. 1 factor, and that is it,' Gruden said. 'Obviously you look at the production and all that stuff, and what he could've done maybe, but winning football games is the only thing that matters to me for a quarterback. And it doesn't matter if they go 12-for-24 for 80 yards and we win, or if they go 28-for-35 for 400 [yards] and we lose, you'd rather have the 12-for-24. The ability to manage a game, stay away from the big turnovers and get the W is all that counts.' As is usual, DeSean Jackson (six targets for 4/126/0 receiving) and Pierre Garcon (five for 4/61/0) were the main recipients of Griffin's passes last week. The Dallas pass D stifled the Colts last week (30/44 for 228 net yards passing, one TD and two interceptions thrown in aggregate) to the extent that Andrew Luck got an early hook for Matt Hasselbeck. Two weeks ago, Mark Sanchez managed 17/28 for 219 net yards, zero TDs and two interceptions thrown (four sacks taken for -33 yards) - the Dallas secondary is playing very well during the stretch run into the playoffs. They've been better than their season average of 248.1 net passing yards allowed per game (23rd in the NFL) would indicate. Griffin got a 'W' last week, but he faces an improved Dallas secondary in this game - on balance, this looks like a neutral matchup for Griffin and company.
